I had such a great omakase experience here. The entrance is hidden behind the taco stand restaurant in Wynwood - such a fun and unexpected touch - and you receive a private code with your reservation to get in. The space is small and intimate with just eight seats, which makes the whole meal feel special and interactive. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious, and the hospitality was warm and welcoming. We even met some amazing people at the counter. I would def come back!

Hidden Omakase — December 27, 2025
For a fleeting two hours, the outside world disappeared. At Hiden Omakase, we were transported—mentally and spiritually—to Japan, freed from the ordinary worries of life. Tucked discreetly within the vibrant energy of Miami, this intimate sanctuary is a rare gem, one that truly deserves to be written about.
Every element of the experience is meticulously considered: the menu, the pacing, the service, and even the smallest details—right down to the Japanese-style bathroom, a subtle yet telling nod for anyone who has traveled to Japan. Nothing here is accidental.
Chef Seijun Okano, who began his sushi journey at just 14 years old in Japan, brings decades of discipline, mastery, and quiet confidence to the counter. His experience flows effortlessly into each course, resulting in a meal that feels deeply intentional and perfectly curated. Every bite is exquisite—balanced, expressive, and flawlessly executed.
Yes, the experience is a premium one—but so is a flight to Japan. The difference is that here, you achieve the same emotional and culinary transport without enduring a twelve-hour journey. What Hiden Omakase offers is not simply dinner; it is a spiritual and sensory experience—one that will stay with me for a lifetime.
Having visited many omakase restaurants across the United States, I can say with certainty that Hidden stands apart. Chef Okano is warm, welcoming, and engaging, fostering effortless conversation as each course is prepared before your eyes. The service team operates with a quiet precision and grace reminiscent of Japan’s finest establishments—seamless, attentive, and deeply respectful of the craft.
Our deepest gratitude to Chef Seijun Okano; Yair Gaona; sommelier Mika Nasako; and the exceptional team, including Sai Lo and Luis De Jesus. Your dedication, discipline, and thoughtfulness were evident in every moment. This is Michelin-star caliber dining in both spirit and execution.
Chef Okano—should you ever find yourself in Boston, it would be my honor to welcome you into my home for an omakase of my own. You will always be welcome.
Thank you for the unforgettable experience, the meaningful conversations, and the remarkable cuisine. Course after course, the meal was constructed like a warm, exquisite home—brick by brick, memory by memory.

Unfortunately, Hiden is not worth the hype nor the price point. I chose Hiden specifically to enjoy my first ever Omakase experience as a birthday gift to myself, and now I fear I may never do another!
I’ll start with some positives:
- The chef was nice
- The 10 pieces of sushi were delicious
- The wine was good/standard
- I enjoyed the intimate atmosphere
Here’s where things start to go in a downward spiral, and I’ll go course-by-course:
- Appetizer 1: Japanese barracuda. Tasty and worthwhile
- Appetizer 2: Uni toast… was fine, but the chef was literally serving the uni from the plastic container that it was likely purchased in? Really made me feel like the uni specifically was not fresh nor special
- Appetizer 3: Squash blossom tempura. It actually burned my mouth. I shared this information with the staff, and they seemed quite dismissive.
- Appetizer 4: Silver belt fish with black vinegar sauce. Probably the best bite of food of the night.
- Sushi selection: Loved all 10 bites. Fish was fresh. I just felt like there was no innovation or creativity. Perhaps that’s the purpose of this omakase experience.
- Hand roll: Could only taste the seaweed on the outside. Proportion was way off. Disappointing at best.
- Matsutake soup: Slightly better than a typical miso soup. Not memorable, nothing special, very okay at best.
- Dessert: This had me flying off the handlebars. Matcha gelato. Mediocre flavor at best. Down the street I can get 3 gelatos that taste better. Served as an “ice cream sandwich”…. THE COOKIES WERE UNWRAPPED IN FRONT OF US. Not freshly prepared nor creative. The most boring dessert I’ve ever had at a Michelin-starred restaurant. My jaw actually dropped when the staff member started unwrapping the cookies in front of us.
Wine— Was fine.
Based on my experience, I am baffled how this establishment has a Michelin star and is popular at all. We were seated for less than 2 hours in total, and at least 4 of the 18 bites were straight up bad (tempura blossom, hand roll, soup, dessert). I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone I care about.

Hiden offers a disciplined, technique-driven omakase that highlights the purity of each ingredient. The fish quality is exceptional, the knife work is precise, and the progression of the menu is thoughtfully arranged. Every bite feels clean and purposeful.
Service is quiet and efficient, matching the minimalist atmosphere of the room. The experience leans heavily on technical execution, and while the quality is undeniable, a few moments lacked the emotional connection that great omakase often provides.
Still, the craftsmanship is clear, and the tasting is beautifully refined. A very strong four-star restaurant.

From NYC, we eat a lot of omakase. This was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. If you’re from (or visiting) Miami, and can get a seat, give it a try. You won’t find a better meal outside Japan. 😊

By far, the most incredible omakase experience from the personal email invite through walking out the door. We came down for a quick trip to Miami from NYC and we love omakase and have had many amazing experiences in NY but nothing yet like this. We cannot say enough about the clean and high quality of the fish, the service, the ambiance and of course the chefs. Watching them create each dish was an experience in itself. Also the sake and wine pairing is a must. Thank you so much for this memory, we look forward to passing on the recommendation to our friends and family!

One of the best omakase experiences I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was extremely intimate seating a total of about 8 people. The quality of the fish was exceptional fresh, buttery, and expertly prepared. Every course felt intentional and elevated, with the chef’s skill and attention to detail shining through. However the service was just as impressive as the food—attentive, knowledgeable, and warm without being overbearing. This place sets a new standard for both food and hospitality. Absolutely unforgettable and worth every moment.

I visited on September 20th, and as I walked in through the taco stand, I was immediately surprised by the entirely different and intimate atmosphere inside. The food was incredibly delicious, with each dish showcasing a unique and elevated approach. This place offers a truly distinctive concept that everyone should try at least once.

I truly loved this place, the food was fresh and clean, the staff was really friendly and assisted my every need, I also enjoyed my conversation with the head chef. I really loved the atmosphere they created with the restaurant being literally HIDEN. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was because of a fly that was annoying me during my experience, a place with this caliber should at least take care of bugs before starting. Otherwise I fully recommend this place to sushi and Japanese food lovers! I would rate this 9.5/10 in general.

One of the better Omakases I’ve had in a long time. Great selection of very fresh seafood with excellent technique. Chef also had a good command of veggies as the maitakes were phenomenal. Chef was great about explaining things to people who hadn’t done Omakase in the past, made them comfortable and made accommodations in specific situations, which I find is rare. Great selection of sake and had something for most price ranges. Would gladly go back again. My only negative was that I wished they had slightly higher quality chopsticks. Not sure of that’s a health code thing in Miami or a choice. But it certainly didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the evening.
