Kyu delivers an exquisite dining experience from start to finish. The tuna crispy rice, pork belly and soft shell crab bao’s and fresh crudo are absolutely delicious. The sea bass serving is generous, perfectly prepared and the fish flaky. The claypot rice is comforting. We added duck to ours which was flavorful but I do love the rice without an added protein. . The bok choy is vibrant while the sweet potato has a buttery, smoky goodness. I absolutely love the fried chicken and the ribs here!

Diana our server was attentive, asked all the right questions and had great suggestions. Manager Octavio’s presence added another layer of hospitality — his warmth and attentiveness made us feel sincerely welcomed and valued.

Thank you to all of Kyu’s team for a wonderful evening!

Given the price of the food I don’t feel the quality warranted the price.

As you can see based on the screenshot, the time is 9:35. I’m currently at the restaurant speaking to Kim the manager. I have a reservation for 9:45. She said we are so backed up, I can’t even fullfill reservations.

A place I used to love can’t even fullfill reservations. I asked to speak to the owner for. How disappoint,

20% tip automatically added to the bill and guess what? 3x tasting menus, $600 bill, and we maybe saw our waiter three times during the entire meal and they forgot our drinks order.

KYU is one of the best restaurants in Miami. Food, drinks, and service are 10/10. They play the best music, 2000’s hip hop. Place is an absolute vibe. Don’t miss the cauliflower.

The beef short rib is a must order! Although known for its coconut cake, the chocolate cake with ice cream is amazing.

Love this place! Went over the weekend. Sat at the bar. Kim was super sweet. We told her we just landed and she recommended us some delicious things and made us feel welcome. The bartender was also amazing! We can’t wait to come again

KYU used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Wynwood—if not the favorite—before the renovation. Unfortunately, after multiple visits post-renovation, this experience confirmed that while the food remains excellent, the dining environment in Miami has significantly declined.

The biggest issue is the acoustics and layout. The space is overwhelmingly loud, with sound bouncing everywhere—voices layered on top of each other to the point where holding a conversation feels exhausting. The background music is barely perceptible, tables are packed extremely close together, and there’s virtually no sense of privacy or intimacy. The result is a chaotic, overstimulating atmosphere that completely strips away the coziness and enjoyment of a proper dining experience.

This is especially noticeable when compared to KYU New York, where the ambiance is darker, more intimate, better spaced, and balanced with DJ music that actually enhances the experience. Miami, by contrast, feels acoustically uncalibrated and visually flat.

That said, the food is still phenomenal, and it’s the sole reason to endure the setting. The beef short rib was outstanding, deeply flavorful, and perfectly executed. We also loved the smoked bone marrow, crispy tuna rice, and the Japanese sweet potato, which remains incredible and consistent with other locations. KYU’s culinary execution continues to be top-tier across the board.

Service, however, was mediocre at best. It felt rushed and understaffed, and we often had to actively look for our server. On a busy Friday night, that may explain part of it, but expectations should still be higher. One unfortunate moment involved a drink being spilled on the table—accidents happen, but there was no offer to replace or comp the drink, which was disappointing and avoidable.

In summary:

* Food: Excellent, consistent, and memorable

* Ambience: Loud, crowded, poor acoustics, no intimacy

* Service: Rushed, inattentive, lacking recovery on mistakes

KYU Miami is still worth visiting for the food alone, but the atmosphere severely detracts from the experience. Personally, I wouldn’t return to the Miami location unless something changes—I’d gladly choose the New York City location instead. For now, this earns 3 out of 5 stars.

Our server Andrew was amazing! And our hostess upon entry shared two recommendations we went with and were so happy we did. The cauliflower app and the short rib with the banana old fashion was a combination and sensory experience I won’t forget, EVER! Well done KYU management and staff
