Often, finding a descent meal in an airport is a challenge, if not impossible. Most airport food seems to come from an eye catching package, machine, or reheated from a box that moments before was in the freezer. Can anyone say microwave? The breakfast was delicious, I had eggs and potatoes. They were out of a lot of items, and the organization of it was very confusing. There were separate lines for takeout, cafeteria style, another walk up line, tables, it was a little bit much. The pastries, favorites like Cuban pastellitos in guava/cheese etc. — were delicious. The Takeaway line doesn’t have hot food, but they do have the Cuban coffee and pastries, and that line moves much quicker than the hot food line.
This turned out to be a lifesaver after an endlessly delayed plane. I always am thrilled to have time to stop at La Carreta. This time it was packed, so I went for to-go and had a very well done fruit smoothie and some papa rellenas and croquetas. I think their little snacks are divine. It held me over until I got home.
