The waitress provided incorrect pricing information, and the customer ended up paying double the price. She even argued, insisting that it was the customer’s fault, despite having given the wrong price, and got into a dispute with the customer.

Matsuri (@matsurimiami), located in a strip mall on bird road, is another quality sushi find. It was a great weekday lunch option, as I was in and out in under 30 mins (damn work meetings). I tried the Edamame and the My Size Roll and felt very satisfied.
While I enjoyed it, I think I need to go back with more people and order the larger sushi combos to know if I'll really love it. Stay tuned!

NO LONGER MY FAVORITE SUSHI RESTAURANT!!!
Great food but service, from the minute you arrive, sucks.
Service was so slow I cancelled appetizers that arrived after main courses were finished; even after we reminder servers twice. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Won’t be returning for a while.

I use to like eating here but lately the front desk is such a mess. They make you wait while there are many tables available. When we finally sat down we placed our order immediately. Nothing complex. One roll two avocados salads and one sashimi special. The salads never came out. Even thought we waited while our main courses where at the table. We finally had to cancel the avocados salads. Extremely poor service and very miss managed. Someone needs to step in and help manage this place better.

Food is good but doesn’t worth waiting for an hour for a table. Depending on the server, the service is bad.

Food was amazing. Would definitely go back. Service was a bit rushed but the restaurant was packed. So it wasn't a big deal

Went here for lunch and was very happy. I couldn’t decide on sushi or teriyaki, so the lunch special was the perfect combo. The chicken was super dry, but flavorful. The sashimi was perfect. Service was quick and friendly. It’s small and the tables were tight together, but it was perfectly comfortable.

Restaurantji Recommends
So disappointed. I won’t be returning back to matsuri. All started with our waitress displaying a noticeable lack of enthusiasm. She avoided eye contact and seemed bothered by our presence, making us feel uncomfortable
When the food arrived we discovered a long black hair in one of the sushi pieces.
When we politely asked our waitress to remove the contaminated sushi and bring the check, she seemed put off. To our surprise, she still charged us for the entire meal, minus only one sushi piece which we didn’t touch nor drink anything as we wanted to leave.
Unfortunately, Matsuri has taken a significant step backward. The decline in service quality and attention to detail is striking. Unless they revamp their service standards, I would not recommend Matsuri to others.

I’ve enjoyed Matsuri in the past, but this visit was a letdown. The fish wasn’t fresh, a stark contrast to their usual quality, and our server’s dismissive attitude made the experience worse.

Here’s an improved version of your review:
My wife and I decided to revisit Matsuri after some time, as we had a great experience the last time. However, things seem to have changed quite a bit.
We arrived at 6:40 p.m., and they told us there would be a 40-minute wait, which is normal for a busy place like Matsuri. After 40 minutes passed, we checked in again and were told we were next. Meanwhile, three groups who arrived after us were seated first, which led us to believe that they might prioritize larger groups over couples. Finally, 30 minutes later, we were seated.
Now, onto the food. We started with the negitoro yuke and salmon carpaccio in the garden. The yuke was delightful, with balanced flavors and nothing to complain about. The salmon carpaccio, however, was disappointing. The chunks of salmon were too large, and the marinade and spice were almost non-existent. Either it hadn’t been marinated long enough, or it was simply overlooked.
Next, we ordered the American Idol roll and the Crunch Hip Hop roll. The fish in the American Idol roll didn’t feel fresh—it was closer to room temperature, as if it had been sitting out. The Crunch Hip Hop roll was overloaded with batter and lacked the spicy kick I was hoping for. While I understand that spice levels vary for different palates, the freshness of the fish was again an issue, not up to the standard we’d experienced here before. Feeling unsatisfied, we decided to try a few more dishes.
We ordered pork steamed dumplings, octopus hot yaki, kabayaki, and the sushi mori awase.
Starting with the dumplings: there was very little pork filling, and they arrived lukewarm, as though they hadn’t been freshly steamed. The octopus was tough, and the sauce lacked spice—not a major issue, but worth mentioning. The kabayaki was a pleasant surprise—the eel was fresh, and the sweet sauce complemented it perfectly. Finally, the sushi mori awase was the highlight of our meal. The fish was fresh and served at the right temperature, a stark contrast to the rest of our orders.
The last thing I want to mention is the excellent service at the end of our visit. When we were about to pay, the new front desk attendant was incredibly kind and helpful. We had an issue with the point-of-sale system, and he patiently explained everything and assisted us, which left a positive impression. This interaction was the main reason I gave a 2-star rating instead of just 1-start. For the atmosphere I would only say this is a small place and a lot of people coming which makes the restaurant loud but expected from a crowd space.
Even though Matsuri is a place I usually recommend, this last experience has made me reconsider. I’ll think twice and be more cautious before coming back.

The best fresh authentic Japanese food you will find in Miami at $$ price.
The service needs much improvement (I think is a cultural thing ) and is very small and crowded.
