This take-out restaurant is located in Richmond Heights. It was refreshing to enter and get welcomed, and made to feel like you were a guest at someone's home rather than a restaurant. The atmosphere was just as welcoming, with a huge welcome sign on the front if the counter. The aroma of good southern cooked food wafted in the air. When asked about the menu, the cashier who happened to be Apostle Carl Malone, the owner, patiently informed us of every item sold, those already visible on the line, and the fried foods that would be cooked to order, fried chicken, fish, and porkchops. The corn was made by shaving it from the Cob, and the desserts were all homemade. Às our order was being prepared, Apostle Malone answered any questions we had, and along with providing us a free item of his choice, since we were first timers, when we asked about a nearby park to go sit and eat at, he offered some space across from his nearby church. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful gesture that really touched us. We went there and ate, and as we finished eating some of our delicious food, I tasted the Sweet Potato Pie. It was exactly the flavor I had been searching for. I knew my daughter's neighbor had been looking for that taste so we went back to thank Apostle Malone, and to buy her two slices. She was not at home but called us later to say that it was exactly what she had been searching for. I definitely will be making another "trip," as we who live up in the northern end of the county call it when we travel, "down south." Great hospitality, and great food, will always keep me coming back. It was so worth it.

The best Soul Food I have ever had!!! The baked chicken just fell off the bone, Collard greens and greens were off the hook!!! The yellow rice had a special spice that's incredible!!! Of course the corn bread was to die for!!!! When in Richmond Heights you must eat here!!! You'll be glad you did!! And the owners couldn't have been nicer and friendlier!!! Love Mr. Jack's Soul Food on the Go!!!
Fresh.
Visit this restaurant today. Basically I was before and only purchased the steam cabbage it was great then. However, today's a different story. I brought the smothered turkey wing, yellow rice Collard greens, banana pudding green beans. First of all turkey is tuff and horrible. The collard greens has no taste. The greens would have been on point. The food case had flies in it. So you the food went in the garbage. ?

I visited the restaurant today for the first time. The customer service is amazing. However the food didn’t meet my expectations. I ordered Catfish, cabbage, yellowrice, cornbread and macaroni. The food looked delicious, however I was disappointed with the taste. The Catfish had no seasonings, and was undercooked in my opinion. It didn't taste authentic in my opinion, the meat had a weird texture. The Mac and cheese was ok. The rice, nothing special. Cornbread is was good. Cabbage was nothing special, just ok. I paid $41.00 for two dinners. I expected way better tasting food for the price I paid. I didn’t finish it all and threw majority of it away.

This restaurant deserves something bigger than the store front they have. You want soul food? That’s exactly what they give you. From the fresh lemonade to the main entrees to the dessert. The service was impeccable, the portions were insane. I’m still eating my food currently and had to write this review. Today’s special was Ox tail, I wouldn’t doubt everything is special in that restaurant.

First time go to Mr.Jacks. I was greeted by two very pleasant men. I ordered short ribs, mac and cheese, candied yams a flop and pound cake. Everything was amazing! Definitely homemade. I had enough to share with my parents. Will definitely come back!

Whole heartedly wish I could choose 0 stars. Me and my friends ordered over the phone. I personally had fried chicken, yellow rice, greens and Mac&cheese. The lady on the phone took the order as if everything was good. WRONG. Went to pick up the food, they charged my card then proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have any yellow rice, yams and other sides that we ordered so they substituted it for white rice & double greens. We were hungry and didn’t want to fuss about it, took the food and went back home. THE FOOD WAS SO NASTY AND HAD NO SEASONING. My greens tasted like a bush, mac & cheese tasted gross & my chicken tasted like I just plucked the feathers off and bit it, not to mention that white rice wasn’t getting touched. Never will come back here. Nasty work !

I was very excited to try Mr. Jack's Soul on the ago. Since it's opening, I heard mostly positive reviews. I bought the smothered pork chops, yellow rice, mac n cheese, cornbread, cabbage, fried corn, and short ribs. My order was placed using Uber Eats and I was aware the food may not be as hot as if I purchased myself. As I previously mentioned, I was very excited! For me, the mac n cheese and short ribs were the best of the meals. The corn was also good but I have a love/hate relationship with corn (personal issue that probably needs therapy...lol)The mac n cheese wasn't the traditional I'm used to, however, it was good (and cheesy). The short ribs were tender, seasoned and plentiful. I'd like to add the pork chop were okay, but too thick. Personally, I think two thinner pork chops would suffice as opposed to the one thicker one.As for the rest:The yellow rice was dry and flavorless. The cabbage was underwhelming. There was no sign of seasoning meat in it and it had a strange aftertaste. The gravy for the pork chops and the short ribs was canned or from a dry mix. I'm a country girl and this was so devastating to me...lol. The cornbread tasted like cake. As I said, I am a southern girl. I don't like sweet cornbread but I can/will tolerate. This was another level of sweet and not the jiffy mix kind. It was very, very cake like and I would not try it again.Overall, I was sad. I spent good money to eat good food. I ended up throwing away everything except the short ribs and mac n cheese. With the money that is being charged, I expected more of a "they put their foot in this" as opposed to "nah, try it again ." I am also a country girl and grew up making everything from scratch so I may be a bit biased and unfair.I will give them another chance and order again (except the cake being passed off as cornbread).
