This restaurant deserves something bigger than the store front they have. You want soul food? That’s exactly what they give you. From the fresh lemonade to the main entrees to the dessert. The service was impeccable, the portions were insane. I’m still eating my food currently and had to write this review. Today’s special was Ox tail, I wouldn’t doubt everything is special in that restaurant.

Whole heartedly wish I could choose 0 stars. Me and my friends ordered over the phone. I personally had fried chicken, yellow rice, greens and Mac&cheese. The lady on the phone took the order as if everything was good. WRONG. Went to pick up the food, they charged my card then proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have any yellow rice, yams and other sides that we ordered so they substituted it for white rice & double greens. We were hungry and didn’t want to fuss about it, took the food and went back home. THE FOOD WAS SO NASTY AND HAD NO SEASONING. My greens tasted like a bush, mac & cheese tasted gross & my chicken tasted like I just plucked the feathers off and bit it, not to mention that white rice wasn’t getting touched. Never will come back here. Nasty work !

I was very excited to try Mr. Jack's Soul on the ago. Since it's opening, I heard mostly positive reviews. I bought the smothered pork chops, yellow rice, mac n cheese, cornbread, cabbage, fried corn, and short ribs. My order was placed using Uber Eats and I was aware the food may not be as hot as if I purchased myself. As I previously mentioned, I was very excited! For me, the mac n cheese and short ribs were the best of the meals. The corn was also good but I have a love/hate relationship with corn (personal issue that probably needs therapy...lol)The mac n cheese wasn't the traditional I'm used to, however, it was good (and cheesy). The short ribs were tender, seasoned and plentiful. I'd like to add the pork chop were okay, but too thick. Personally, I think two thinner pork chops would suffice as opposed to the one thicker one.As for the rest:The yellow rice was dry and flavorless. The cabbage was underwhelming. There was no sign of seasoning meat in it and it had a strange aftertaste. The gravy for the pork chops and the short ribs was canned or from a dry mix. I'm a country girl and this was so devastating to me...lol. The cornbread tasted like cake. As I said, I am a southern girl. I don't like sweet cornbread but I can/will tolerate. This was another level of sweet and not the jiffy mix kind. It was very, very cake like and I would not try it again.Overall, I was sad. I spent good money to eat good food. I ended up throwing away everything except the short ribs and mac n cheese. With the money that is being charged, I expected more of a "they put their foot in this" as opposed to "nah, try it again ." I am also a country girl and grew up making everything from scratch so I may be a bit biased and unfair.I will give them another chance and order again (except the cake being passed off as cornbread).

This restaurant is beyond Legit! Nothing else needs to be said. I wanted soul food and that is exactly what I got! The food is absolutely delicious and is an absolute culinary gem that has stolen my heart and satisfied my soul. From the succulent fried chicken to the perfectly seasoned smothered pork chops and the mouthwatering collard greens, every bite was a revelation of soulful goodness. Trust me, no matter what you get, you will be happy and satisfied.I ordered from them twice this week from doordash. Both times the food over preformed and exceeded my expectations. I had to personally call the restaurant myself to praise them for their amazingly delicious food. This restaurant is simply amazing, earning it a well-deserved 5-star rating.

I've ordered from this restaurant a few times, and it hasn't disappointed yet! When you walk in, you are greeted by everyone, and they are all so kind. It has a bit of a nostalgic feel, and I love that. The food is tasty and the fried dishes are fried fresh. My favorite dish is the baked spaghetti special on Fridays. Definitely a gem down south!

Based on a street review I heard through word of mouth, there were mixed opinions about this place. Despite the negative comments, I decided to check it out for myself. It was my first time visiting, and overall, the experience was satisfactory. On a pleasant Sunday, I wanted to treat my wife after her long week, so I decided to skip cooking and order some delicious soul food. The fried pork chops were quite tasty, although I personally felt that they were excessively thick. My grandmother had a bit of trouble eating them due to their size. Also the candyvyams to sweet,On the other hand, the fried corn was spot-on, perfectly cooked and flavorful. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Mac and cheese, which didn't meet my expectations. The cabbage was alright, nothing extraordinary. I also expected it to come with cornbread, but it seems like that might be available at another spot. Now, when it comes to the yellow rice, it was decent, but not outstanding. I've given this place a few chances, and I must say, it's hit or miss. Considering the amount of money I spent, I expected the food to be of higher quality, especially since it's supposed to represent my people's cuisine. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give them a 5.Oh, and let's not forget about the drinks. They were quite tasty, but overly sweet. I had to dilute them with some water to balance out the flavors.Overall, my experience at this place was average. While they had some delicious dishes, there were also some disappointments. It's definitely not top-tier soul food, but it's worth a try if you're in the mood for a casual meal.Kid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes

There is nothing in this world like the satisfaction of some real good, homemade with love soul food, and this places serves it right. The wonderful family who works here really cooks it up with deep deliciousness. I can't get enough. And the man in the kitchen with the divine singing voice doesn't hurt either....

The Mac and cheese is amazing! If you're looking for soul food that tastes like real down south home cooking, this is the place! I've only ordered takeout but the service (essentially when they sell out of something is fantastic).
