Food and service quality have declined dramatically since our last visit.

I had high hopes but the food was just okay. I ordered the short rib and potatoes but essentially only got 3 pieces of short rib that were the size of a nickel. The food didn't taste fresh either. Definitely was not made with love. I won't be back =(

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience at Red Rooster was honestly unacceptable.

We were part of a large group table, and my boyfriend and I were seated at the far right end. We arrived a little later than the rest of the group, so as soon as we sat down, we immediately ordered margaritas.

The server first brought the wrong drinks, which we sent back right away and clarified our order. About 10 minutes later, he came back and asked if we still wanted the margaritas — which made no sense since we had already confirmed it.

After that, we waited another 20–30 minutes and still never received any drinks. During that time, he came back to the table multiple times but never brought anything to us.

The entire table was on one tab, so we didn’t think much of it when we saw him closing things out at the other end of the table — especially since we hadn’t received any drinks.

When we got up to leave, we told him never mind on the margaritas, and he casually said “okay, no problem,” without mentioning that they had already been charged to the group tab.

Later, we found out we were charged for two margaritas that were never brought to us.

What’s most frustrating is that he confirmed the order multiple times, never delivered the drinks, still charged them, and never once communicated that they were already on the bill — even when we told him to cancel them before leaving.

That level of service and lack of transparency is extremely disappointing and unprofessional.

I was really disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The service was extremely slow, I honestly felt like I was there for hours. What made it worse was that it wasn’t even busy due to the weather, so the delay was unexpected.

The food was also a letdown. Some dishes had no flavor at all, while another was overly salty. On top of that, we were charged for drinks that never even made it to our table, which is completely unacceptable.

I understand that service can be slower when a place is busy, but that wasn’t the case here. Overall, it was just a bad experience. At the very least, if the food had been good, I could’ve said the wait and price were worth it, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

One of my favorite restaurants in Miami! So many yummy dishes! The lamb and the cornbread are delicious appetizers. For the main entree, I recommend the pepper pot. The drinks are pricey but good. The Marqueta is refreshing, I recommend it if you're a tequila fan.

I returned 3 years later to find the pepper pot is no longer on the menu. Please bring it back! I had the oxtail mac & cheese, which was phenomenal. The drink service was slow, though and they were out of a number of items for the cocktails.

Went on a rainy Sunday night. Got there 15 minutes before the rest of my group arrived. Went to the bar and stood there for 15 minutes without ever being acknowledged or served. Once our table was ready, it took another 15 minutes for anyone to take our order. In fact, the hostess had to come check on us, to see if anyone had tended to us. Our water was very nice and did admit they were short staffed. Although it was only 7pm, they were out of the ribs, oxtail and steak. 3 of us ordered the fried chicken and 1 of those was raw in the center. Sent it back and waited another 10+ minutes for a new plate. By this time, the rest of the party was nearly finished with their meals. When we asked about desserts we were told we had to go to the dessert room. The waiter walked us to an adjacent room, which looked like an ice cream shop as well as some freshly made beignets. They also had an espresso machine. To be honest, for the price, this set up didn't work for me. I would have given 2 stars but our waiter and hostess were nice and trying their best. Won't be back.

As a fan of Chef Marcus Samuelsson, I make sure to support his restaurants whenever they’re in a town I’m visiting. My birthday trip to Miami before heading to my cruise the next day was the perfect opportunity to make dinner reservations at Red Rooster Overtown.

I received a friendly reminder call the day before to confirm my reservation—which I greatly appreciated and which set the tone for exemplary customer service. We easily found street parking and arrived a few minutes ahead of our Friday reservation time and were immediately seated (the second sign of exemplary customer service).

After a long morning touring Overtown, we had an unexpectedly heavy lunch. So I already knew I was going to pack up any leftovers and enjoy them for breakfast before heading to the port for the cruise. I ordered the Lexington deviled eggs and smokestack ribs. My cousin ordered the oxtail mac. All the food was very tasty and met our standards.

I’ve been blessed to have multiple experiences with birthday dinners—from Applebee’s and local Mexican restaurants during my undergrad college days to fine dining—and the staff usually strives to make the birthday person feel celebrated. Well, I did not feel very celebrated by Shelbre. I was served the saddest scoop of vanilla ice cream (I suspect Breyers, which I do like) with a single lit candle. He was so dry while serving it that I honestly don’t know if he even wished me a happy birthday.

That didn’t dampen my spirit. There was a “birthday twin” seated at another table, and we greeted and celebrated each other with love and enthusiasm.

Overall, the food and vibe matched Marcus Samuelsson’s high-standard brand. I just don’t think I would recommend the restaurant for a celebratory birthday dinner—maybe happy hour instead.

A tad pricy, but I enjoyed the food. Came from NC hanging with my daughter for her spring break. We both enjoyed our meals.

The door lady I believe her name was Emily was very sweet and tried to accommodate us when our party went from four to 8.

She told us to meet Henry at the podium and Henry was everything but accommodating and very rude.
It seems as though as he has this authority complex and wasn’t even willing to listen to us. And even condescending to Emily by saying “She doesn’t tell me what to do, I tell her what to do” It’s called customer service and he doesn’t know how to provide it.
