Rinconcito Cubano Of Kendall

Had a very unpleasant experience here. For reference, I walked in with two friends. My Cuban friend ordered first, and was taken care of quickly and efficiently. However, when I went to order for myself and my second friend, I wasn’t tended to and was given attitude along with annoyance in the servers voice. I didn’t even get to finish my order of two drinks TO GO before being interrupted and forgotten about for more than 5 minutes. I finished my order, and it took another several minutes to even make the powdered lemonade. After being forgotten a SECOND time the server rung up the lady behind me first. The drink I ordered wasn’t even worth it. The watermelon juice was too watery. I’m also hispanic and can speak relatively fluently, but my complexion is darker. As for my friend, she’s black. After all of that I can’t help but feel this was discrimination and racially motivated. Would not recommend to anyone.

You should never tell a client what they are allowed to buy or card minimums.

If I don’t want to spend 6 or 10$ worth or buy unnecessary amounts of food.

I shouldn’t have too lost a customer. I understand you don’t want to pay taxes on cards and that’s fine.

I’ll go to a bigger Latin place even though I love your empanadas

Very good food in here, it’s close to my house, good service, fast, and enough food to fill you for the day. Highly recommend it for all people. Plenty of parking also.

I had high hopes for Riconcito Cubano, on 117ave in Kendall, but unfortunately, my experience was really disappointing. I ordered the Vaca Frita, and it fell flat—it was dry and had a chewy texture like it had been overcooked and left sitting for too long. Definitely not what I expected.

But what really left a bad taste in my mouth was the customer service. I genuinely don’t understand why the service at some Latin spots is so cold and dismissive—especially when I’m putting in the effort to order in Spanish, even though I’m not a native speaker. I’m left wondering: do I have to be Latin or speak perfect Spanish just to be treated with basic respect?

I asked for extra limes—got them—but they were completely dried out. Not even a drop of juice. I brought it up to the staff, and instead of offering to fix the issue, I got the response: “All the limes are like that.” Really? So your standard is to knowingly serve people dry, unusable limes and brush it off? Finally when they brought the limes, they didn’t give me the extra I originally ordered and I had to beg for extra yet again.

This type of excuse-making and avoidance is incredibly frustrating, especially when I'm tipping for service that honestly felt careless and dismissive from the start.
I left feeling disrespected and disappointed—by the food and the service. At this point, I feel like I deserve a refund for the experience I had. If management is reading this, feel free to reach out to me for my information to process that.

Bottom line: Yall gotta do better. This wasn’t it.

The food was was not bad, but I probably wouldn’t come back. It’s not authentic Cuban food and you can taste it. The service however, was not the best. Everyone seemed upset.

Outstanding food and service!!! We drove an hour out of our way after 7 days on a cruise for it!!!! The house potatoes are phenomenal!!!!
