I’m 70 and I hold to the notion that any restaurant older than me has got to be good, and Shorty’s has been in business since 1951. You do the math.
I had the Brisket/BBQ Chicken dinner and Mrs. K. had the Pulled Pork dinner, both absolutely delicious, reasonably priced, washed down with icy mugs of beer, and served by our waitress Cookie with skill, charm, and true Southern Hospitality.
Great food, great service and great prices is what makes Shorty’s a great place for BBQ. Get some!

I left a 1 start for the following reasons. I ordered the BBQ combo (ribs and chicken). First, they charged an extra dollar for white meat chicken, which ended up being dry and flavorless. The ribs had a smoke taste but no real texture, and they were far from meaty. Honestly, the best part of my plate was the coleslaw.
My wife ordered the pulled pork platter, and her pork was served lukewarm. She agreed—the coleslaw was the only highlight. A suggestion to the kitchen: seasoning is your friend, please use it.
Service wasn’t great either. I still left a 19% tip to round off the bill, but being prompted for an additional higher tip on the receipt felt like a money grab and a complete turn-off.

They don't let an adult get a kids meal. My wife had a stomach surgery and they still wouldn't do it without the medical card. Stupid
My wife and I recently visited Shorty's BBQ and used a coupon that saved us about $7 or $8, which was a great start to our meal.
I ordered the Pork Steak with Coleslaw and Fries, while my wife had the Spare Ribs with the same sides. We both got a side of Garlic Bread, which was also very good—my wife especially liked it. The pork steak was tasty, and the coleslaw was awesome—definitely a highlight of the meal. I'm not a big fan of fries, but I have to admit that these were very good. My wife thought her ribs were just okay.
After that, I also ordered a Beef Brisket Plate. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The brisket was too dry for us; most of the pieces were overcooked. We did find two or three pieces that were really juicy, but they were the exception.
The service was good, and overall, it was a positive experience, especially considering the savings from the coupon. While most of the food was great, I probably won't be ordering the brisket again.

Too expensive ,plus: food served room temperature almost cold, dry with no sauce on it, stale sweet potato fries. Sauce bottle is so slippery you can’t grip it. It’s 60 degrees inside the restaurant, why? Bathrooms are also gross. You should’ve spent money redoing the inside of the restaurant, not putting the new wood facing outside.

Restaurant was good. No wait to sit and the place was very busy. Order took a minute but the food came quick. I tried the Brisket and it was pretty good. One large tough piece but the others were much better. Cole slaw was decent and a really creamy style. French fries nothing to right home about.

I got the brisket sandwich and it was awesome price was fair about $16.
It was clean and welcoming.
Now my grandma got the beef sandwich or something and it wasn't very good she couldn't even eat or cut it.
I also waited a very long time for a handful of sandwiches about 45 min.
I personally thought my food was absolutely delicious and cooked perfect, the restaurant was pretty cool I won something for my son in the claw machine.

Sat down quickly. Server took my order quickly too. I got burnt ends.... Not good at all. Just chunks of brisket fat with BBQ sauce. Also, I'm pretty sure no one spoke English.
I've been eating Shorty's BBQ since I was a kid. I've visited twice in the past two months and the food has been great and just like I remember. You definitely get a lot of food for your buck. Both times the wait staff were friendly and helpful. I wanted to give special recognition to our waitress this past weekend, Roxana, who was one of the sweetest and caring wait staff I have had before. She helped us with the menu and took great care of us.
Horrible food. Ribs were very dry without flavor. We also ordered a burger, it was the same way the ribs: not flavor. Waiting time was extended, more than 30 minutes
I've been a customer for over 60 years at different locations throughout Dade County always good food and pleasant service
The worst place I have ever been in Miami. Food was extremely horrible, no taste, the gravy in the smashed potato taste nasty. The french fries tasted like the have been in the fridge for months, and the ribs werw old, dry and grey colored. They should close down this place forever. The bathroom very dirty. The waitress very rude. Horrible experience. We did not even finish out food. Real nasty.
