This experience on Valentine’s Day was absolutely ridiculous. I got a text after the reserving that there would be a fee of $$150 per person I walked out of here paying about $300. I’m highly disappointed in the red velvet cake because it tasted like it was from Publix., the service was great, but I see why. To be honest it was a nice experience due to the fact they have remodeled, but I am still highly disappointing and what I paid today and then after $30 per person for gratuity they had the nerve to ask for another tip after paying with a card
I visited Smith & Webster of Coral Springs, FL., on January 4, 2025, for my Mother-in-Law’s Beautiful Birthday Celebration. Unfortunately, my experience was a bit concerning and racially alarming for many reasons, I will touch on below:
1. Upon entering the restaurant there were no host/hostess to greet us. When the Waitress finally came to our table, she didn't introduce herself, nor did she take the time to advise us about the restaurant. The Waitress didn't ask if anyone had any dietary issues or allergies. This Waitress assumed everyone visited this restaurant before and simply asked if we were ready to order.
2. No clear instructions on where to find the menu. Some members our party spent several minutes looking at the wrong menu in North Miami Beach, while we were in Coral Springs, FL.
3. Another disappointing thing, the fact that our party included two small kids in attendance, and there was no "Kids Menu”, to choose from. The Waitress once again, did not make any effort to suggest healthier choices for our children.
4. No Bussers, which was another disappointing fact. The used "Appetizer Dishes" were on the table throughout the entire night. No bussers to clean off the table in anticipation of the next course.
5. Refills on water. We had to ask for refills for water, several times throughout the night and wait long periods for this simple service.
6. Unbothered attitude from Waitress. My level of comfort decreased for this restaurant, when our Waitress assumed that only Caucasian male in our party was paying for the entire bill. Our party included three separate households, and we made prior arrangements and contributed to the bill via cash and Zelle. We then selected one person to pay, in order to make things easier for this Waitress. Without prior knowledge of this arrangement, our Waitress assumed that one person covered the entire bill and decided not to give my partner and I any attention, although all parties equally contributed to the bill.
7. The Food: With this previous payment assumption in mind, the Waitress decided to ignore half of our party, who was closest to the wall. I happened to be closer to the wall and was totally ignored. I decided to take a healthier route and ordered a Cesar Salad with Salmon, Collard Greens, Crispy Shrimp and one Honey Biscuit, and two Lemonades (Strawberry & Cucumber), to share with my toddler. Although the food was “Spectacular”, we never received that one paid, “Honey Biscuit”, which our son, who is 4-years-old, was anticipating to taste.
8. Waitress rude and snarky remark before leaving: Interesting comment was made by our Waitress, 20 minutes before our celebrating ended. Our family friend, who happens to be the only Caucasian male, in our party, flagged our Waitress to close our tab. Our family friend said to her, "Put it all on one card, I’m paying! Our Waitress responded, "Of Course You Would Be! She laughed and carried on. As one of the paying patrons, I was highly offended, to the point, I didn’t care to consume nor share another piece of food from this restaurant. I implore you to revisit the cameras in your restaurant, between the times of 6:30pm to 10:00pm; and watch my demeaner after this comment was made by our Waitress! Please also view the cameras for any exchanges of funds during the last 30-minutes of our dine in. I personally did not partake in the cake celebration, due the night ending in such an unpleasant vibe.
Again, it is truly unfortunate that half of my experience was shattered and broken into pieces, because of our Waitress' unbothered demeaner, racially motivated remarks and lack of attention to detail. I will recommend this restaurant for the food to anyone, but for myself, I will reserve my right to not visit again.
I'm so sorry for this detailed review,
LP

I had high hopes for this place in Coral Springs. The vibe and decor were great, but the food made our whole party sick. The Alfredo sauce was watery, and the burger, claimed to be wagyu, was not. They said no substitutions on sides, but ran out of what one person ordered and made a substitution. Drinks were good, but food and service were disappointing. We waited over an hour and a half, with one person's meal arriving after everyone had finished. We also never received a side we ordered. Despite being a scratch kitchen, the wait time was excessive for the simple dishes we ordered.
Many reviews praise this restaurant, likely riding on the reputation of the Miami location
I cannot speak for the one in Miami as I have not been there, but if it is for the one in Coral springs please stay away.
I have a reputation for having a stomach of steel but this place made me sick. It is not for the faint of heart. Proceed with caution.

I was so excited to try this restaurant. So, for my husband and I's 16th anniversary I cancelled our reservation at Hells Kitchen and decided to go to Smith and Webster NMB instead. Made a reservation for 6:30p on Sat. 1/4 only to get there and the restaurant is completely dark. Yes, as in closed. Guess we'll have to try it some other time. Disappointing
I had an amazing time at this restaurant. The staff and manager was very frieny. The food was very flavorful. Definitely would recommend 10/10.

Raspberry Lemond Drop is top tier. They’re not stingy with the alcohol. But I don’t recommend going late because the menu is slim to none!

This was my second dining here. I wasn't a happy customer then. Was hoping to see a change. I did not care for the updated menu. Besides us (2), there was a party of five here. The service sucked! They move slow as molasses. We arrived at 4:30pm with reservations. We were expecting to be out by at least 5:30pm so that we could make it to the arena. We were super late due to the slowness. Many of the items that we actually wanted were not available. We'll try the Coral Springs location if we decide to dine again. What's up with a gratuity charge being tacked on for a party of two?

I am waiting on my food for three hours. It’s my birthday horrible service. No food. I hate doing this. I am not going to change my reviews. Because I was there at this restaurant last year for my birthday. The food is great and the service was good magnificent. But tonight was horrible. On my birthday. I was there until 7:35 pm and lift 11:07. It’s not excuses when I made reservations for 15 people. But your waiter Service the party of eight instead of our 15 people. which they receive and serve their food before us. And I still haven’t received my birthday cake I left because dinner was disappointing. One of their waiters didn’t even waiter for me leave the restaurant . Before a he confront me about my review, telling me I am wrong being very confrontational, which I don’t appreciate it. I know you guys food are good, the waiting process need more work.I don’t tolerate disrespect from anyone and I hope whoever ever visit this establishment. We’ll see how unprofessionalism gets when they get one review.
I recently visited the new Smith & Webster location in Coral Springs, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. My friends and I dined there around 8:30 PM, and while I understand it was later in the evening, that shouldn’t have affected the quality of service or food.
The server was okay—not rude, but also not particularly welcoming or pleasant. She was very straightforward, which left little room for us to feel truly accommodated.
The highlight of our meal was the drinks and the spinach dip, which were both decent. However, everything else fell short. For a Black-owned restaurant, I had high hopes and expected food that was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Sadly, this wasn’t the case.
Three out of the six people in our group ordered the Cajun chicken pasta, and none of them enjoyed it. It looked and tasted more like noodles in soup than the flavorful dish we were expecting. To make matters worse, we were told that we couldn’t return any food once we’d taken a bite. Instead of a resolution, we were only offered 5% off the meal, which felt like an inadequate attempt to address the situation.
I truly wanted to love this place and support it, but based on this experience, I can’t say I’ll be returning anytime soon. I hope improvements are made because I believe in supporting Black-owned businesses, but food and service quality are crucial.

Food was not the best, I gave it a 1 because 0 was not an option. Most things we asked for were not available on menu. Manager explained they are more brunch spot and open few days, so when food runs out, it is what it is. The food was not seasoned, portions were small, especially for the price. Waiter was amazing. Would not revisit. Drinks overpriced and not much alcohol.
Also bartender handed me a straw with her hands, gross! The worst part, my party after eating was catching up with each other at table after we paid our high bill , tipped and patronized this business, the manager had the audacity to let us know he's not rushing us but they need the table. Never been treated in this manner at a restaurant. They have a lot of work to do being in hospitality business. Good luck.

First time at this unique spot described on their website as the creative brainchild of Starex Smith and Kayvon Webster, blend(ing) soulful African diaspora flavors with refined French techniques. Without a doubt, the food is every bit as delicious as the owner-chefs intended, even something as simple as their honey-buttermilk biscuits, which are totally irresistible. With Jason greeting us tonight and diligently managing the front of the house, always keeping a careful eye on all the tables, and Kenni cheerfully tending to our every need, the experience was positive and all items were brought out timely, hot, and delicious. The only issue observed—raised by other reviewers as well, was the expectation of full (ex. 20%) gratuity on top of the included 18% service charge, rather than an additional bump to the included amount. Ample parking out front, with apparently, valet services at other times (not tonight). Elegant ambiance with an impressive saltwater aquarium and mood-setting music, the venue is relaxing, yet upbeat. A second location can be found in Coral Springs—have to give them a try! Conclusion: give them a try, support them, and help in their success. If you have any suggestions, bring them up to the staff—they clearly want to make sure you have an outstanding experience. We did.
