Although it doesn’t seem like much from outside, the food served in this small Japanese place rivals the best Japanese restaurants in Miami.
Great prices, outstanding service and fantastic food, 110% recommended!

The food is good but the sushi roll portions are small. If I’m going to pay $20+ for a sushi roll I want for it to fill me up a bit. Not leave me hungry. They just need to add more rice to plump up the rolls.

I used to love this sushi place and was a regular here, but unfortunately I won’t be coming back. The food is still decent, but the service has completely ruined the experience for me.
The last two times I’ve dined in, the servers have actually asked me why I didn’t tip more. Yes, seriously. That’s completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Tipping is optional and based on service, and I’ve always left a tip, even when the service was just average. Being questioned like that made the whole meal uncomfortable and awkward.
It’s a shame, because I genuinely enjoyed coming here. But I’m not going to spend money at a place that guilt-trips its customers or makes them feel unwelcome over something like this.
Plenty of other sushi spots around that know how to treat loyal customers with basic respect.

This place is a Miami hidden gem! Me and my family have been coming here for 15 years! The food is amazing, the service is fantastic, and the owner is a cutie who’s always there! I highly recommend it, as a sushi lover and a foodie.

Had been a few years since my last visit and was glad to see why Sushi Chef is still one of the top spots in Miami. The raw options are fantastic and fresh, and I really love the creativity of their house specials. The options generally, from their appetizers to their bowls and sushi rolls, are abundant and well-priced. Alex was a fantastic server/waitress and made sure our visit was a memorable one. Parking can be tricky with a few spots adjacent and at the rear, but there are street spots along the main road too.

My first visit to Sushi Chef was 28 years ago when I was when I was 28! Chef Fusao Enomoto is there everytime I walk in. There is always an attention to detail in each dish, even when I take out. The establishment is celebrating 34 years in business. In Miami, that alone speaks volumes as this is a fickle town with restaurants opening and closing all the time. For those who know about this hidden gem we return again and again for the excellent food, service and outstanding quality control including having a very clean and tidy space which means a great deal to me as well as easy/free parking!

A hidden jewel.
Unpretentious place but with extraordinary food. The owner, a bona fide very experienced and gifted Japanese chef, in some dishes he adds a few touches of flavor from his deep experience in Latin America and France.
