Visiting Miami for the weekend we were invited by a friend to have lunch , we all had the cowheel soup. It was very tasty , made me feel at home . Will visit Sweethand Kathy’s again !
I’ve eaten quite a bit of Trinidadian food, but Kathy’s is different. Don’t let the “cafeteria” vibe fool you. The food is authentic and incredibly flavorful. The sautéed spinach with braised pork and fragrant white jasmine rice, Wow! The smoked fish with onions and peppers, the stewed mackerel with Coo Coo (think soft, creamy corn cake, almost like polenta) and callaloo. A lot of things I’ve never tried before (and I’m a foodie!). Chef/owner Kathy came out...
I wish I could give this restaurant more credit than I gave it. However, my food was cold. It did have some potential, but I felt like it would’ve been way better if I had my food at the right temperature. I don’t have anything else to say about this place. The server was very friendly and welcoming. Dont think I would be trying it again.
