Two Gays Three Takes ..

7.9/10 Dined on 3/11/24 Originally hailing from Austin, Uchi's Miami outpost serves non-traditional Japanese cuisine in a sleek and upscale environment. Uchi kind of feels like what Nobu was 15 years ago - an innovative twist on Japanese food. At Uchi, however, you won't find seemingly ubiquitous spicy mayo or rock shrimp tempura. We went for happy hour and sampled nearly all of the hot and cold dishes offered. Many were well conceptualized and delicious, but some fell a bit flat. Even happy hour was a four dollar sign affair, so we can only imagine the sticker shock of a full fledged dinner. Overall, Uchi was a very solid meal although the flavors did not soar quite as high as the price tag. There were some dishes that were absolutely delicious - the paloma crudo, for example, which featured ultra-fresh sea bass in a light and smoky sauce. The walu walu was similarly excellent and glazed with sticky sweet candied citrus. The charred short rib served over a bed of crispy rice with flavorful salsa matcha was a treat. The wagyu gyoza were juicy and surprisingly paired well with the mango chutney. Not every dish stood out though. The spring rolls with duck confit were minuscule and lackluster for the price and the sauce was far too thin to cling to the rolls. The chicken karaage was inconsistent - some pieces were crisp while others lacked breading and felt soggy. The fried milk dessert was good, but its arrival with the check was tacky and soured the end of an otherwise pleasant meal. -TWP ________________________________ Uchi happy hour is basically just bougie girl dinner. We got half off a bottle of sparkling rosé and a series of small bites that ranged a bit in their quality, but on average were well-conceptualized and featured top notch ingredients. The raw seafood stood out for being extremely fresh and were often paired with an interesting citrus-forward sauce. The crispy rice and gyutoro was also very tasty and well-executed and felt like the best value on the menu. Some other items, notably the spring rolls with duck confit, felt really skimpy for their price and didn't wow us in any particular way. Overall, Uchi offers creative dishes and excellent ingredients, but lacks the value and consistency of our highest-rated restaurants. -JB

Uchi has an amazing vibe , stylish yet relaxed. Service is always amazing and waiters are always knlowedgeable and help you navigate a manu that is quite cryptic to novices. Prepare your palate for an amazing journey... the food is simply mind blowing.

One of the best dining experiences we've had. We let Macy, our server, take the lead to bring out dishes based on the price per person we gave her. She did a phenomenal job by showing us all the flavors, unique preparations, and her personal favorites. She took very good care of us and I think without her guidance we wouldn't of have had such a great time.

The waitress spilled water all over my friend and she sat through a whole meal soaking wet and the manager didn't even acknowledge what happened.

Please add Uni to the Uber eats menu! I called the restaurant to ask if maybe I could sub an otoro for an Uni since they are similar price but the person who answered did not want to help. Good sushi though.

My first time trying Uchi in Miami. The entire team there was polite and welcoming, informative, and very helpful. This place was clean, great food presentation, and the energy was wonderful. The food was delicious. I enjoyed the Waygu hot rock and yellow tail sushi, I sat at the bar. Great vibes, thank you!

So I went here for happy hour. They are pretty busy during happy hour. The service was pretty good, our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu. I think if you're someone on a budget this is not the happy hour for you. Please don't go with the expectation to have the usual roll portions. The portion sizes are single servings. It's giving very much elevated happy hour dining. Overall the ambiance was fine, not too loud. Happy I experienced it but I wouldn't say it will be on the top of my list of recommendation for sushi happy hour. Let's just say it works for the Wynwood area and their target customers.

I was expecting Uchi to be overly fancy like a lot of the other upscale restaurants in Miami, but that wasn't the case at all! It's definitely a pricy meal but the food is so great, it's worth it. Would recommend getting a mix of raw seafood dishes (super small, only a few bites per person) and a few bigger plates like the fried chicken. The fried chicken ($15) was a great portion and was so delicious! I'd come just for that. Get a few sides of sushi rice and you have a meal! The mushroom dish was unique and wonderful! The Uchi salad is special -- packages of lettuce with a yummy dressing and a crunch

Came here on a recommendation from a friend to celebrate my wife's birthday and was not disappointed. We are both in the service industry so we can vouch that everything from food quality to service to ambience was perfection. Paul was our server, and despite it being busy for a Tuesday he made the time to guide us through our meal and course everything properly for us and make recommendations, he was truly a rockstar. Please give him our thanks. All of the food was incredible and priced reasonably. We made no fanfare about it being my wife's birthday, it was an off the cuff comment and we were still sent over two lovely bites. We're from the Delray area, but we will certainly be coming back on our next trip to Miami. Keep up the good work guys.

10/10 the best place for dinner. The food and the service is amazing! The dessert is something out of this world. If you ever come across this place please don't walk but RUNN and book a table. Hands down my favorite restaurant at the moment!

It was not a good experience, they treated us very poorly, they gave our table to someone else, and we had to wait a long time for them to give us another one. We ordered our dishes and it took a long time for the food to arrive, the cold starters arrived at the end, the table was a mess that was not cleaned up... in short, bad service. It's all aged. Urgently needs remodeling. The presentation of the staff… terrible. Very poorly presented….The ugly atmosphere. Just like that, it's ugly.I'm sorry to post this but it's better, so they can fix it.Food …. Good good but in total chaos when brought to the table.GreetingsAngelica
