The food was solid (4/5)—fresh, well-prepared, and satisfying, even if it didn’t completely blow me away. What really stood out was the service (5/5): friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The vibe (4/5) was cozy and calm, perfect for a casual lunch or catching up with someone.

Vicky’s Café is one of the few restaurants on the FIU campus that doesn’t offer a student or faculty discount. They’re busy all day long, and it’s clear they’re doing very well, which makes what happened today feel even more disappointing. After I had already paid for my meal, I asked for a side of spicy sauce. Instead of it being a simple courtesy, the cashier rang it up and said, “That’ll be $1.25.” I was honestly shocked that a business operating on a college campus, serving students and faculty who already stretch every dollar, would charge for something so small. It’s just sauce, but it speaks volumes about how much, and/or how little, they value the community that keeps them in business.

Everything at Vicky Bakery is on point! The pastelitos are always fresh, warm, and flaky. The coffee is bold and strong to wake you up in the morning! The employees are nice and fast in service even when the place is packed. It has a comfortable, inviting ambiance and the quintessential Miami touch. This is my favorite breakfast and coffee spot!
