Incredible bakery in the Wynnwood area of Miami. I have been looking forward to going to this bakery for a while based upon it’s reviews, and the food is amazing. Large on-site bakery produces some unique items and fresh bread. I had an almond croissant that was very good. Highly recommended.

This was our second time at Zak's. We were the first time here in 2019, and now it's been 6 years. Unfortunately the quality of the food went down. The babka didn't taste fresh, was pretty dry and felt like a dry cake. I remember the babka I enjoyed years ago, ot was so much better.
We sat outside. Be advised that there's an automatic 18% tip surcharge added on the bill if you ear onsite. The service personnel transparently informed us about this, appreciate it.
If you need to park your car, DO NOT use the parking garage on the same street. We were charged 40 bucks for 80 minutes!!

The great thing about Zak the Baker is how they keep prices low while still using high quality ingredients they even harvest from their own farm! Extremely affordable which is amazing for Miami, especially in Wynwood. I had a sandwich for $12, honestly…you can’t beat that. The servers knew what they were talking about, super knowledgeable ,made the whole experience really smooth & welcoming. The space is bright, cozy, and it’s the kind of place that reminds you why simple, honest food can feel special. My experience was nothing short of exceptional . The best part was taking home a box of pastries to share with my family, you can really taste how fresh they are . Definitely a Miami gem .

I have heard so many good things about Zak The Baker over the years but after trying Zak The Baker for the first time, I honestly don’t see what the hype was about. I’ll go into more details below:

I went to Zak The Baker for a weekday lunch and was seated with minimal wait. It took a few minutes for a server to greet me and the service was overall pretty cold. The restaurant has a mandatory 18% service charge and the staff didn’t seem to care about providing good service because the gratuity was already tacked on to the bill.

I ordered a Cold Brew Coffee ($5.50) to start. The coffee was good and locally brewed in Miami. The server advised they only have Whole, Almond, and Oat milk for creamer, pretty limited in my opinion for the cost of the coffee.

For food, I loved the variety of fresh and locally grown items. I wanted to get the Caesar Salad but add a protein, and the server advised they can’t add proteins to the salad because “they are a fully Kosher kitchen and restaurant” and he seemed to get an attitude about it. The restaurant doesn’t advertise themselves as being a fully Kosher restaurant or I would have never come here as I don’t have a need to pay a premium to dine at a fully Kosher restaurant. The server advised the only protein they could provide was Salmon and it would be prepared on a separate plate. So I opted on spending less and getting the Tomato Bisque and Grilled Cheese ($15). The tomato bisque was really good, the sandwich was average and the servers completely disappeared after my food arrived and I left as soon as I flagged someone down for my check.

My stomach was messed up later in the day after my meal so I’m not really sure about their food preparation at the restaurant and won’t go back.

They put $7 in the menu for a Jewish Rye Sourdough Bread loaf and then charged me $8 on my credit card yesterday. I told the server about it and showed him the menu and my ticket, which he told me he needed to keep but before that, I took a picture of it. After he had 3 back and forth conversations with his manager, he told me that the menu hadn't been updated and showed me a different menu and that it would be adjusted, making me believe I would be refunded yesterday. I called the bakery today and spoke to a guy named Henry, who hesitated to give me his name, told me very arrogantly that I didn't need his last name and kept interrupting me speaking over me over the situation. I asked him to stop interrupting and he continued talking over me non-stop!
He told me in a very rude way that I had to wait for processing, 2 or 3 days. So it was THEIR mistake and they make ME wait!!! On top of everything, he got tired of listening to my complaint and HUNG UP!! Unbelievable!!! What a way to turn customers away!!!

In all ways but one, Zak the baker is such a dreamy spot. However, today for the first time ever, I felt discriminated against for my skin color and the native language my mother and I communicate in. You wouldn’t expect that from a place that preaches love for its city.
I didn’t get her name and I don’t wish to sound demeaning, but there aren’t many more ways to describe her than a big white blonde blue eyed waitress, completely jumped around table to table of people who had come after my mother and I, seeing us trying to call her over and make eye contact, and she never once stopped by to offer water or take our order. After 20 minutes of this, we left.

My innocent older mother, who’s not one to take things personally, felt that it was personal. Because the waitress ensured she served the other white-looking English-speaking tables, and walked by us every time as if we didn’t exist, chin up, rarely looking from the corner of her eye.

I’ve been to Zak the baker many times before and this had never happened to me. It was hurtful, and it makes me never want to go again.

Be careful if you’re a non-white Latino speaking Spanish with your family, now you may not get served here.

I stopped by just to grab some bread, and it was absolutely fantastic. Perfect crust, soft inside, and full of flavor — easily some of the best bread I’ve had in Miami. The place itself is simple and a bit busy, but the quality of the bread makes it totally worth the stop. I didn’t try the food, but if it’s anything like their bread, it’s probably excellent. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates great, freshly baked bread.

Loved this place and the service. Everyone was super nice and helpful. The food was incredible and honestly lived up to the hype. I unfortunately came later in the day so many of the baked goods were sold out but I got the guava and cheese pastelito and it was very fresh and flakey. Definitely recommend!

Excellent food and service. Nova bagel and egg platter were 10/10. Very crowded but worth the wait for a table. The service was fast once we sat down. We would return again.
