My family and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Gator’s Seafood Restaurant. The atmosphere is rare and beautiful. It is a true old-Florida restaurant of the kind that used to be fairly common 20 years ago, but has all but vanished in 2025. A warm hardwood building directly on a placid little bayou that indeed is the home of visible alligators. The restaurant is medium-sized, busy with happy diners, and warmly-lit throughout. Large windows overlooking the bayou provide diners with a peaceful and charming view, and give the impression the restaurant exists with nature rather than intrudes on it. I would say this special atmosphere is the highlight of Gator’s, but that would be unfair to the staff. The Farringtons, especially our server Abigail, truly made us feel like family and everyone who worked there wore easy smiles and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we could imagine throughout our stay. And the food delivered what we hoped for - simple fried seafood fare in generous portions. We had fried mullet, crab claws, and the hot fried shrimp that was exactly as advertised. I had the seafood platter and everything was very good. We finished off with a piece of homemade Key Lime Pie (which my daughters loved) and their special homemade Bushwacker Pie. The Bushwacker Pie really did taste just like a frozen Bushwacker drink, and it turns out that it makes an excellent finish to a meal. This restaurant is a gem of the area, and I suspect there are very few places in all of Florida anymore that can deliver a similar experience. Gator’s Seafood Restaurant is a time-capsule to a previous age that will bring warm nostalgia to an older diner, and surprising charm to younger ones.
Be sure to call and make sure they aren’t just serving “family”. Got there at 4:45 there was a line. Owner came out and said it was the night they were serving their “family” and told us along with others it would be an hours wait. Said Finally got to sit down and served finishing at 8. Not worth the wait. I don’t know why you wouldn’t have the family come an hour before opening rather than insult your paying customers.
Good food, authentic florida seafood house. Only open in the summer so it's an annual "Event "

The Mullet backbones were the best! Mullet filets were great as well. You won't find better Mullet anywhere. Crispy, tasty fries... Everything was great.

Ate there last night, waited awhile but the food was delicious. Flounder was superb.
I haven't been since I was small but after 45 years I enjoyed the food server and atmosphere. Great place to dine. Didn't much care for waiting for it to open . It was hot and Nats were flying but food was great. I had shrimp and chicken tenders and my mon had the catfish. Was very good . And whoever said coleslaw was no good they were wrong. Bring cash or check when u come though no debt cards accepted.
Waited an hour and a half in line until someone said please put your name on the list. Really?! There was 15-20 people there.
Food was good but not worth 100 bucks for 2 of us.
Glad we went but that’s it for us.

Waited forever for a table. There were six in our party. Several parties of eight came in after us, and were sat before us. Their hostess either doesn't know what they're doing, or they are giving preferential treatment.
2 tables who ordered after us got served before us.
