I visited this bar during a Halloween bar crawl, and while the atmosphere was lively and full of energy, the overall experience was a bit underwhelming. The place was packed, so I understand that service can get slower during events — but even though we were seated right at the bar, it still took a while to be noticed.
The event page had mentioned special drink prices, which we were looking forward to. However, we had to ask about them, and the staff told us there were no specials available. I’m not sure if that miscommunication was on the event organizers or the bar itself, but it definitely caused some disappointment.
They did have line dancing, which added a fun touch, but the space was very limited, making it hard to fully enjoy. During one of the dances, I ended up hopping on my husband’s foot in my high-heeled boots — not exactly the highlight of the night!
Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, just not one that stood out enough to make me want to drive 35 minutes to return. It might be a better spot for locals who come often, but for me, it didn’t offer that memorable spark that makes a place worth the trip.

What a joke. The guy at the front clearly thinks he’s guarding heaven’s gates instead of a run-down nightclub. Rude for no reason, judging people by how they look, and acting like it’s some exclusive spot — please. I’ve never seen such unprofessional, trashy behavior at the door. Total embarrassment of a place.

Went for the first time this weekend. Was a pretty cool place but crawling with huge bouncers. Typically not a big deal but felt like they were preparing for hell to break loose. It must become a rougher place as the night progresses but it was a cool bar while we were there at 10pm.

Went here for the first time on Halloween night. The atmosphere was great and we had a blast! It was super busy so the bar service took a bit, to be expected, but the security in the back took his job too serious! Didn't stop us from having fun though. Especially when you dont have to pay for drinks all night 😉

I love dancing, but every time I come, I only hear hip-hop. Maybe you could let me know the best time to come if I want to dance to other types of music?
Great place all ages, lots of different kinds of dancing

We organized a spontaneous gathering as a farewell celebration for a friend. Although it took place in the middle of the week, it proved to be a great experience. We enjoyed watching them rehearse their line dance, and they incorporated other music, enabling non-line dancers to participate on the dance floor as well. It was a great evening!
Always a blast
One of the best places in New port Richey to hang out at!

This message is for the owner of The Kangaroo along with the manager, both. A friend of mine and I had a huge, extremely uncalled for and completely disrespectful encounter with the first guy working the door, checking ID's on Saturday night, December 28th. I'm sure his head is shaved. I come in there from time to time, with a few different friends. They're all just friends of mine, nothing else. But that shouldn't matter at all. Sometimes it's even a group of us. The guy told my friend to take his beanie off. (it's a new rule apparently) My friend was embarrassed and didn't want to take his beanie off because he's uncomfortable about his hair. I had made a little joke, saying he has a receding hairline. He should let him keep it on. (My friend thought it was funny) Once my friend took off his hat, the guy looked at me, then looked at my friend, told my friend that he should just shave the whole thing off. After my friend and I left the door area, the first door guy with the shaved head yelled to my friend, telling him his hair really looks fine. That I'm just a HUSSY and he should look for a different girl!!! I yelled back to him saying, "I'm not his girlfriend! We're just friends! And I'm not a hussy!!" There's two ID checkers and he was the very first one to go through. I'm absolutely appalled by what this guy thinks is ok to shout at people! To insult people? To insult me because I'm in there with a friend. That guy totally disrespected me. Where does he get off thinking it's ok to be disrespectful and rude to people? Especially those who are coming into your establishment to spend money, along with wanting to have a good time with friends! People who come into your establishment, spend money. Lots of money. That pays everyone, along with making money for the establishment and keep it up and running! My friend and I left to go spend our money elsewhere. My group of friends that we come in with, may never step foot into your establishment again! All because some door guy thinks it's perfectly fine to be a douche and insult patrons coming into to The Kangaroo establishment to have a good time! This is a small town and we know lots of people all around. People you'd be surprised we know in our town. Word gets around quick. With an employee treating people like this, will bring your establishment down quick. I'm requesting and expecting an email and a phone call back from both, the owner and the manager. This matter needs to be dealt with, ASAP. Word gets around really quickly. Your door guy shouldn't be insulting, disrespectful, or rude to anyone. I will make sure people know how your door guy treats people coming into your establishment. Being a door guy, doesn't give him permission to be a disrespectful douche to your patrons, to whom you depend on to keep your establishment open!
I can't rate the food because I never had any lol, but it's definitely a awesome country style saloon type of club and it's pretty live on the weekends
