Feeling very fat and happy. Rose, our server, WAS INCREDIBLE! Ice cold brewsky. Bread is homemade daily. Schnitzel was wonderfully crispy, cabbage still had an awesome crunch (not even close to over cooked). We could have consumed vats of the gravy. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say the mushrooms used (in said gravy) were magic. I wish we could have ordered ALL the sides. Talk about finding a gem in Niceville, FL. Run, don’t walk, here.

Drove 2.5 hours for authentic German food for a celebration. This place was recommended, but I don’t believe my friends knew it was under new ownership. The goulash was delicious, but the purple cabbage was odd and so was the schnitzel (definitely not jager sauce). Dessert was very stale. The new owners are not German.

Delicious food, and super friendly service. Apple took great care of us, making menu suggestions and offering samples of beer and sauces. Meal portions were enormous, and really tasty.

We had the pleasure of dining and celebrating my birthday with family last night! From the start we felt so welcomed by Apple and her friendly staff. We had a variety of delicious entrees and sides, all homemade and loved by all. The variety of schnitzel and Spatzle reminds us of the 5 years we lived in Germany and was just as delicious!! Apple’s special attention to our 3 grandchildren 10, 8, and 4 was so special and appreciated. They loved their entrees especially the pork dumpling soup, schnitzel strips and French fries! The Hungarian goulash with spatzle was as good as my Hungarian grandmother’s and our dinner brought back such fond memories of Europe! This is our favorite family restaurant and is a must try if you have not had the pleasure of dining in this quaint friendly restaurant!!

Having lived in Germany, Belgium, and Holland, the food at The Schnitzel Lodge is similar to old country German food. The portions are a bit skimpy, smaller than what you would expect from a German guesthouse, but taste delicious. The German beers are wonderful, try them by the stein not a glass. Octoberfest in Niceville is okay, but I'm selfishly comparing it to Octoberfest in Bavaria, which isn't quite fair. Be adventurous pick something other than your normal favorite beer and be delighted with the flavors and taste of German beers, you won't be disappointed.Update July 2022, New owners, which hasn't been for the better. Prices have increased, and the portions have decreased. The food is just okay, but not authentically German tasting. Comparing their food to real German food is like comparing Italian food to Chef Boyardee spaghetti from a can.Updated February 2024 Prices are through the roof, and portions are now even smaller than our last visit. My Schnitzel was bone dry and obviously had been fried earlier and sitting in a warmer waiting for someone to order it. We're done and won't be back, plus the menu is extremely limited now.

Save your time and money and just go to Fort Walton Beach if you want authentic German food.
