Lightsey’s Seafood Restaurant & Fish Co.

I have been coming down to Okeechobee for more than 15 yrs. Lightsey’s was always one of my favorite places to eat until last night. There were 4 of us. I ordered the 1lb shrimp dinner that included fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. I substituted a salad for the slaw knowing I would be charged extra. No issues there. What I received was a plate of shrimp that looked like it was freezer burnt and rubbery 10 mins before two of the other guests even received theirs or I even received my salad. I called the manager over who actually delivered the first plate of shrimp and told her it was completely inedible. She offered to replace which I accepted. The new plate was not great but I could eat it. However, I spent $39.95 plus $5.95 for shrimp and a salad. No fries, no hush puppies that was it. The waiter came back and said they would comp our desserts. 3 of us ordered desserts but was only comped one not all. If the restaurant doesn’t change I will never be back and I will never bring another soul back to this place. It is such a shame because again this was one place I always came to while down here.

We love this place. They have THE BEST fried shrimp; THE BEST Cole slaw; and THE BEST hush puppies I’ve ever eaten.

Great good, very relaxed atmosphere with dog friendly staff. We stopped on our trip with our two pups, we ate on the large screened back porch, it was great

My first time ever here, it caught my eye driving past because they had a sign out that said catfish. Well they have many many more things than just catfish. I did have the catfish and it was really good. Wasn’t crazy about the sides so much but the fish was so good it didn’t matter. I also had the key lime pie ( it’s a must if you love key lime pie) ask for Tammy she was my server and she was excellent. She knew her menu and made several suggestions but I still went with the catfish. She kept my glass refilled and was extremely friendly!

This is a great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. Some of their menu items are on the pricey side as well as their brunch. Go for the Atmosphere and companionship.

The waitress was wonderful! The food wasn’t a lot for the price nor did it taste good. If you order the food, and they make it, you have to pay for it. Even if you don’t want it. We ordered the ocean sampler that has 8 shrimp and 2 scallops and very seasoned ($23). Add more food, then I can understand the price. Instead of the restaurant being understanding that you don’t what the food, they make you pay for it. Then, they say you shouldn’t have ordered it. Well, that’s the first time we were there, and the last. The manager is the one who told us we had to pay for it. The appetizer took a long time for us to get it. It wasn’t busy there either. This is overpriced for the quality. This restaurant is lacking in technical abilities and customer service.
