Best place to eat lunch in Sarasota. This is our family favorite! Even our kids love this place. Interesting, unique, but authentic French food. Soooo good! The owner is such a great person. She is always joyful and accommodating. Coffees, espressos, and pastries are out of this world! We love the soup or salad and sandwich combo. You should go now! Ooh-la-la!

By The Bay Bistro in Osprey is located in a cute plaza just minutes from Venice and Nokomis. The interiors are very well thought out with a European feel, but also give a nod to coffee from various places around the world. They have very cozy indoor and outdoor seating, and friendly and engaging staff. The owner was present and happy to chat with us with helpful tips about visiting the area. You can tell she takes a lot of pride in her business and the quality of product they deliver. In addition to caffeinated beverages and bakery items, they have an impressive menu of sandwiches and lunch items. We kept things simple by ordering an iced cafe mocha, a dark roast coffee, and a chocolate croissant. You can tell they use high quality ingredients since the iced cafe mocha had chocolate flakes in them, but somehow managed to accent the beverage perfectly without making it too sweet. The chocolate croissant tasted absolutely delicious and had a wonderful chocolate filling inside unlike most traditional recipes...we both agreed it was great and tasty. The owner mentioned she gets her croissants from Europe and does the filling and final baking on premises to serve it hot. I'm not aware of any bakeries that go to all that trouble, but it makes for a high quality product. All in all, an excellent coffee and pastry experience at By The Bay Bistro...it's a place I hope to return to and would recommend to others visiting the Venice, Florida area.

I got the butternut squash soup based upon a previous review and I am glad I did. It is delicious and I was even presented with curry powder to sprinkle on if desired. With the soup and sandwich combo I got the Paris, a brie and fig spread with arugula on a baguette. It was a lovely presentation and again, delicious.Lovely, sweet service.

Excellent coffee shop with an exquisite menu option and a variety of coffee options to choose appealing to all kinds of taste. There is a cozy lounge area with sofa-like chairs so comfy and inviting that makes this nook ideal for Friends reunion of sorts! Not to mention the delicious sandwiches, the croissants, and salads that make you feel right at home. It is lovely! I definitely recommend this place with excellent service too!
