I'd probably rate this place 4 out of 5. The food was decent although I've had much better and more flavorful barbecue elsewhere but the sauce really helped make it tasty. We tried the brisket and the pulled pork. The mac and cheese was great, the green beans were delicious, the cornbread was tasty but served cold which I would have preferred warm. They do not serve french fries which I feel would go really well with this barbecue so it's a shame that they don't! (I bet the pulled pork would be amazing on top of french fries with the barbecue sauce!) We had a peanut butter cake also which was really good. The people were friendly and the vibes were really great... so we would come back... but I think we should try the ribs and the burgers looked pretty good that I saw some folks eating so I would probably try that!

This food was worth the drive! I live in Jacksonville and i was heading home from Orlando. My mom called telling me she wanted barbecue from somewhere but that place was closed. I searched google and found this place. Even though I’d already made it to St. Augustine I decided to go back to Palm Coast. I am SO glad that I did! I think the ribs were the best I’ve ever had in my 31 years of living.

The lady who was at the takeout area was so sweet! When my mom placed the order over the phone my mom called and told me “make sure you give her a good tip, she was awesome.” The lady was so excited though about me being from Jacksonville and coming here.

We’re planning a birthday party for my mom in October In Jacksonville. We were initially planning on getting Bonos because it’s convenient and right next to the venue. Well guess what? Even though captains bbq is over an hour away from where the party is going to be I will be getting the food from here.

Definitely not the best BBQ in the area. Brisket was very dry and They don’t make their own BBQ sauces- all store bought. Friendly otherwise, but wounldnt waste 25$+ on the food.

Omg...the food is amazing! The burnt ends, pulled pork and smoked turkey are tender and delicious! We take all of our visitors and family here! Best part, we can get there by boat, tie up and enjoy a great meal! 10 out of 10!

I had been hearing a lot about Captain's BBQ and finally took the chance to try it out. OMG what a place! First, the food is indeed outstanding. I had the St. Louis Ribs, with sides of mashed yams and smoked baked beans. All 3 were SO full of flavor it's hard to chew with such a big smile on your face. Others in my party had brisket and were also impressed. Second, the service was rated a 3 because there isn't any. You order from a menu in the front lobby and they call your name on the PA system to come pick it up. Fine with me. The place is super casual. The lobby has a large cooler with quite an assortment of craft beers. Third, the atmosphere is a classic river side, old Florida setting, inside and out. You drive in on the sand covered drive and find yourself a spot to park between the many trees filling the lot. You can eat indoors, tho not many seats, or out on the covered deck overlooking the Halifax River. The plastic ware, napkins and several sauces are available on a common serving table and trash cans on the deck allow for quick disposal of your paper plates, etc. There is even a sink on the deck so you can wash up after wading thru the BBQ sauce. Afterwards you can stroll out to the river and enjoy the views and sounds of the river front. They have a small marina so you arrive by boat, if you so choose. You really need to experience this place and revel in the fantastic food and low key FL environment.
