We come here often. Most of food is really good. Stay away from the wings. Flavorless, dry, and hard. The worst wings I have ever been served.

Just what I needed after a long day of car shopping and before heading back home to Sarasota - i wanted somewhere to unwind with low lighting, relaxed vibes, A TV’s at the bar since I was solo, good food, great service, wine selection.

Sips 85 is a small, inviting spot tucked into a strip mall. The only real challenge is navigating Eastlake Boulevard to get there. Once you arrive, it feels like a neighborhood favorite with both indoor and outdoor seating that gives it a relaxed, welcoming vibe. The service is one of the highlights. The staff is attentive without being intrusive and they consistently make the experience feel easy and enjoyable. The wine list is excellent, with both special selections and a well-chosen regular menu that pairs beautifully with the food. They keep the Food specials updated on their Instagram page. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality makes it worthwhile. I was not very hungry on this visit and ordered the meatballs with pappardelle, which I did not love, although every other meal I have had here has been outstanding. My friend ordered the steak frites, cooked perfectly to medium rare, and she was thrilled with it. Sips 85 is a great local restaurant that combines warm service, good wine, and thoughtful food in a comfortable setting. It is the kind of place you are always happy to return to.

Disappointing First Visit to Sip 85

I visited Sip 85 with my wife for what we hoped would be a nice evening out. We had made a reservation in advance, so we were surprised to find the restaurant nearly empty upon arrival—and even more surprised when we were offered a table directly next to the front door.

As foot traffic picked up, it quickly became clear that this location was far from ideal for an intimate dining experience. I politely asked if we could be seated somewhere quieter, but the staff informed us they were expecting to be busy for the next few hours and couldn’t accommodate a table for two elsewhere.

The interaction left us feeling that the restaurant prioritized maximizing seating over creating a thoughtful and enjoyable atmosphere for its guests. Frankly, a table positioned right by the entrance shouldn’t be an option for anyone seeking a quality dining experience.

As for the food, it was just okay. Nothing particularly memorable or impressive, but acceptable. I expected better for the price. It didn’t elevate the evening or make up for the lackluster ambiance.

Great food, service was amazing and food atmosphere. In order of what I would order again;
Tuna, ravioli, shrimp, lamb sliders. Sliders need an aioli or something and were a little bland but well cooked. Now the seating was the only thing I have an issue with. Chairs were not comfortable at the high top tables. Invest in 5 or 6 booths for comfort instead of high tops . Wine was pricey. For instance we had the Bonanza at a restaurant in Carrollwood the week prior and was $14 less per bottle. Would come back though.

I ordered from this restaurant for my grandma’s birthday, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! From the very beginning, Sean (the owner) went above and beyond—he sent me the menu, told me to text him with any questions, and on the day of the order he personally helped me choose dishes that would travel well. He was so responsive, kind, and genuinely cared about making the meal special.

The food itself was incredible! We had the short rib meatballs, ravioli, truffle mac and cheese, caprese salad, and a few other dishes. The portions were generous, everything was delicious, and the standout favorite was definitely the truffle mac and cheese—it was amazing.

This meal made my grandma’s birthday dinner truly memorable, and I would absolutely order from here again. If you’re local, this would also be a fantastic spot for a date night—the ambiance in the restaurant is super cute. Highly recommend!

I ordered the Chicken Paillard and while the menu said it came with arugula it came with spring mix. The chicken was very dry and bland. I ordered a second drink and the server brought a drink to the person sitting next to me that they did not order. The Atmosphere is very very loud and you can't talk to others without almost yelling or leaning into the other person. I went to the restroom and the TP must have gotten wet on one side of the roll. It was dried out but crinkly on one side. It seemed very unsanitary even though the bathroom was well maintained. I do not recommend.
