My boyfriend and I came back to the Salty Donkey after visiting back in July. The first time, we had came via boat for a few drinks and a cocktail claw appetizer. We were pleased with the portion and how well they were cooked. The crab meat came right of the claw as it should. However, our second visit was very disappointing. We had planned to have dinner but decided against it after ordering the cocktail claw appetizer again and receiving about 15 claws, for $25, that were over cooked which meant that most of the crab meat stuck to the claw. The service was good and the atmosphere was great but we doubt we will be back. With the price of food being so expensive in general, I don’t think we will chance wasting anymore money here. I hope the owner takes note for future customer sake.

Appetizers (alligator rail and fried pickles) were fantastic and the main course (lobster Mac n cheese) was awesome!!

Everything I ate was extremely salty. I love seafood but lay off the salt. I won’t be back ever
Enjoyed our dinner at Salty Donkey. Food was yummy, the service was amazing and the price was reasonable and expected for the food quality. Our food was fresh and hot!
This place is no Seineyard! Lunch on a Monday and the first time we tried The Salty Donkey and probably the last. Unfortunately, even though it was not busy the service was VERY slow. Took at least 10/15 minutes to be acknowledged by the server and just as long to get our drinks. Waited probably 30 minutes for a margarita and it wasn’t even drinkable (tasted like straight lime concentrate) and my drink was pretty weak. KTs Oysters took way too long but they were tasty. Husband said his cheeseburger was tasty but it was served dry (missing the mayo and mustard and almost half eaten before we could get some) and his side of grits was tasteless and runny. My side Caesar was ok but should have been tossed in the dressing and not served on the side. However, there is potential because the menu is good, prices reasonable, view is great, and staff were mostly friendly (I had to take the terrible margarita to the bar because it was like an hour and nothing to drink and asked for a different drink in its place and she just said she will have our server put in a ticket instead of simply making it and caring, not friendly). Who knows if the place will last a year without simple fixes.

We stopped by here for a family lunch since we were staying down the street and the service was good and the food was delicious. We even ordered for pick up and everything was there and just as delicious as it was in restaurant. 10/10 would recommend

First visit on first night of vacation and we probably won’t return on our next trip. Seating is outdoors and if you sit against the wall of the building in the “tables for two” next to the server entrance, the view is of the railing, and the flies are awful. And it is hot, the breeze from the overhead fans doesn’t reach. I had to put a napkin over my water after five flies lined up on the glass. :(
We had oysters - $~23 for a dozen, small, not particularly briny and the platter for two arrived with one fork and no small plates. We had to share a fork in order to eat them before we could find our server.
The mule was a very light pour. Dinners were pretty good and portions were relatively large, but the “grouper” seemed to be more “fish fingers” than truly grouper. The shrimp and scallops were excellent.
We probably would have enjoyed dinner more seated under the fans (it was so hot, humid and still) and without the flies.
