Such a fun place! The decor is crazy. You can stare at the same area for 20 minutes and still see new stuff! I think they're known for their oysters, but our party had the fried shrimp platter, fried scallops and fried fish and all of it was great. We didn't care for the pepper slaw, but I think it's a regional thing. We like the creamy slaw were used to in the Ozarks. Service was excellent. Definitely a cool place to check out with great food!

Single handedly the worst restaurant I’ve been to in PCB. Sanitation does not seem to be a thing here, and the gumbo is garbage.
This one is tough for me because I really want to give J. Michaels a full five stars. In the past, it has always been one of my go to spots every time I am in Panama City, and I have had some great meals and memories here. This time, it just felt a little off.
Maybe it was the timing, coming in October instead of during the spring or summer rush, but the food, while still good, was not quite at the level I have come to expect. Same with the service. It was fine, but not as sharp and energetic as it usually is. That said, the atmosphere still delivered like it always does. The place has a laid back feel that gives you that classic Panama City vibe, and that part never disappoints.
I am hoping this was just an off day and that on my next trip it is back to the J. Michaels I remember. If it is, I will be glad to update this review and bring the rating up where I want it to be.

The fried oysters were small and tough to the point of being inedible, not up to prior standards

J.Michaels has the best beans and rice. Sat outside on patio and enjoyed the sunset. Great food and atmosphere.

We visited this establishment before a day on a chartered boat. We had a light lunch. Martinis on par. Good was great and reasonably priced. Kid friendly and plenty of parking. The Rueben and chicken sandwiches are great. Salads fresh.

Tried this place for the first time. It was a beautiful cool evening right at sunset so we chose to set outside. Both the host and waitresses were so friendly and professional. The sweet tea was perfect. I ordered the roast beef sandwich with gravy. Man.. it was awesome. My wife got the read beans and rice and a salad. Both were delicious. Prices here are reasonable and service exceptional. We will definitely be back next time in PCB.

I hardly ever leave reviews, but after this experience, I have to. My fiancé and I decided to give this place a try for dinner tonight, and I left not only hungry but furious.
I started with the chili, and let me be blunt — I would’ve preferred canned beans from overseas. One bite was all it took for me to push it aside. My fiancé ordered the fish and chips, and somehow they managed to ruin the one dish Florida is supposed to be known for. Zero flavor, poorly cooked, and flat-out inedible. One bite, and that was it.
I thought maybe the Reuben would save the night, but the first red flag was the 1000 Island dressing coming in a store-bought packet from elsewhere. What they served was not a Reuben — it was an insult to the name. Again, one bite, meal ruined.
This wasn’t just a bad dinner; it was my fiancé’s birthday dinner — and it was absolutely destroyed. If you’re even thinking about eating here, do yourself a favor and drive two miles to McDonald’s. It’s cheaper, it’s better quality, and you’ll save yourself from an expensive disappointment and a miserable ride home.
Hands down, one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had.

My husband & I just had a wonderful, relaxing dinner at J Michael’s. Loved the atmosphere, and especially loved our server, Natalie! She was very attentive & checked with us often to see if we needed anything. We will definitely be back and will ask to sit in Natalie’s section.
