Gary's Oyster Shack

This place is a local gem! I have nothing bad to say about this place. The food.... amazing. The best crab cake/fried shrimp/hush puppies I have ever had in my life. The cheese grits were creamy and the red beans and rice obviously freshly made. But let me talk more about this crab cake......it was rich, craby, fulllll of flavors, finely chopped onion and red peppers just added to the experience. The local feel was so friendly and warm. It felt like we were at an Uncle's house. Our waitress was so sweet and personalable. We will definitely be back.

Amazing! I have to stop and get dad BBQ on my way to Sims and it absolutely makes his day e everytime! Not to mention the yummy dessert he (we) always get. Coming from Georgia after 13 years of being here we have finally found real BBQ!!

The food and service was amazing. We went at lunch time on a Wednesday and the place was packed and still exceeded all expectations. I ordered the lunch stack which is grouper, shrimp, and a crab cake with cheese grits. This was some of the best food I’ve had, the crab cakes are unbelievably good. Everything was top notch. Best place we ate at on our vacation

Ugh, I felt bad 'cause I didn't know they closed half an hour after I got there, but the staff was still super nice, the food was great, and it came out pretty quick. I ended up getting the bacon jam burger and fried oysters, and everything was fresh and made to order.

We have always enjoyed Garys so much. I even had my rehearsal dinner there. Birthday parties, my bridal shower etc. This experience was different. We order oysters raw and 3 cheese. The 3 cheese(mine) were warm yet raw. I obviously couldn't eat them. My husband also got a shrimp basket and they were frozen popcorn shrimp some still cold. Lol. We never saw staff except for ordering and bringing our food, until we paid the bill. We were the only people in the resturant at the time. ( that should've been our first clue) Our use to be favorite little spot is a definitely a thing of the past.

REAL LOUISIANA NATIVE REVIEW! 5 stars for service! 1 star for taste, everything was disappointing and we ordered half of the menu as a family! The best thing on the menu was the hush puppies lol. Baked oysters were horrible to say the least. And the 3 cheese option on the oysters was our biggest mistake! Oysters weren’t drained of the juice so the plates came flooded with oyster juice and toppings sitting on top of the juices. Chargrilled option was ehhhh ok. Food did come piping hot and freshly made. Service was very nice and welcoming, knew the menu well

Saw this place on TikTok and Decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Everything was fantastic. Oysters were small but that’s the way we like them. Fried pickles were great. Shack stack was amazing! Stuffed grouper was so freaking good!! Hunbys seafood nachos were so delish! Crab cakes were great as well! We got salted caramel swirl cheesecake to go and it was great also!!! We will definitely add this to our list of restaurants to frequent!

Has been a favorite of mine and always good! This last experience was as if the oil was old, giving the oysters and scallops a non favorable distinctive taste! This was a Tuesday night and my first trip being there in a few years! Maybe just caught it on a bad night! On the other hand, the smoked tuna dip was off the chart as it’s always been! It does have a strong smoke flavor that some people would not like, I, myself do! I’ll go back the next trip just for the fish dip and hope the other was just a fluke!!!
