Ay! Chavelaa tacos&cantina

First off I really wanted to like this place, so I went twice in about 2 weeks time. First time I arrive around 4:30-5pm I’m the only person in the restaurant, I sit at the bar and immediately notice an electric fly swatter on display on the bar. I make a comment about the bug killer just sitting on the bar and tell the server that’s not an appropriate place to put something used to kill bugs, she shrugged and said no other customers ever said anything about it before…. Lmfao
Also to add, the bar seats are far too small and you have to reach up to eat your food, very uncomfortable imo.
I had the berria tacos on visit one. I thought they were decently seasoned and asked for some hot sauce to add. The hot sauce is not hot and also has a strange flavor, not terrible but unlike any authentic Mexican style sauce, but what ever not the end of the world.

Tonight I stop in around 6:00pm on taco Tuesday thinking it’ll be more packed because the waitress said it is, nope. I sat at a booth this time, ordered four different tacos so I could try them all. The most flavorless tacos I’ve ever paid for. Idk why they wouldn’t season any of the meats. I go to the restroom and immediately notice that my shoes are sticking to the floor. Then I notice at the table someone spilled something sticky and I show the waitress how sticky the floor is and she shrugs her shoulders and walks away.

While eating I had ants crawling on the table, but I didn’t say anything about it. There’s so many other things wrong with how they run this place, it’s no wonder why it’s empty in peak dinning hours. I’ll give them credit, the ambiance in the dinning room is nice, but that’s where it stops. I feel like they are trying to hard to make it a Miami vibe And ignore cleaning and seasoning of the food. If you can’t get those two right which is basic restaurant 101, than I pray I don’t get diarrhea later tonight!

We discovered this place by chance when we were just driving by.
What a fabulous.place! We had the shrimp quesadilla and the Hangar Bowl. So unbelievably tasty and great prices for quality food.
The cocktails are amazing too.
Definitely recommend!

This was our first time here and it did not disappoint!!! Our waitress was super knowledgeable and friendly, absolutely helpful! We had a baby with us and they were very accommodating! The quesabirria and tacos were very delicious as well as the cherry margarita, SO GOOD! Now the show stopper was definitely the churros!!! They came with vanilla ice cream and dulce de leche inside I MEAN SO YUMMY! We will definitely be back! Thanks for the great experience and delicious food! 10/10 recommend!!

Had another amazing experience at Ay! Chavelaa last night! The food was just as incredible as the first time, maybe even better. Our server, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made the night even more enjoyable. We ordered all our favorites again: the untraditional guacamole (a must), beef empanadas, steak tacos, beef burrito, and yuca fries, everything was bursting with flavor. The margaritas were perfectly balanced, and we ended the meal with their caramel-filled churros… absolutely heavenly. Can’t wait to come back!

We just tried there for dinner.

Atmosphere was nice, but we were the only two people there at 7pm on a Friday night

We ordered the carne asada and quesabirria, the horchata and a margarita. For being the only two people in the restaurant, I’m unsure of how they messed up our order. It took over 30 mins to get our food. They brought me chicken flautas (wrong order) and the carne asada was literally inedible. It was the worst tasting steak I’ve ever had and my husband and I both had to spit it out.

Needless to say, they didn’t charge us but we certainly won’t be coming back
