Grouper spectacular! Hogfish spectacular. Fish was flavorful, crunchy, without a heavy overwhelming batter. The oysters were fresh properly shucked without having the wonderful seawater washed out of it. Salad was crisp, dressing flavorful and the right amount. The service was nothing short of Awesome. Kiki, Catherine, and all the staff provided Top Notch attentive service without being overbearing. The utensils were absolutely perfectly cleaned. They did not even seem used prior. I could not recommend this place more. Thank you

Food is great the catch of the day is one of the freshest fish I’ve had. Our server Jennifer was informative and suggested a wonderful meal. Prices aren’t outrageous portions large beer cold will definitely return five stars all around

We were looking for fried oysters so came here for lunch. I must admit they were really good oysters and a small Caesar salad on the side. My wife had the fish and chips….good, however typical of the meal. Very clean restaurant with a local following.

The food was super good and the restaurant was very clean. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because the price for a lunch was quite high.

The line of regulars waiting patiently outside Fish Shack on any given night is a sign that whatever they have been doing - it's working. Us regulars come back

again, and
again, and
again, and
again, and
again.

Sure, the fish is fresh and the food is good. But we're not so loyal because their food is a 5 out of 5 when there are a dozen of other spots nearby with food just as good (and probably cheaper).

Fish Shack is popular because once you step foot in the door you know that most of the people there ARE regulars. It's literally the thing that jumps out at you! The way they treat their regulars is their special sauce. Just look around - these people have a relationship with the front of the house staff.

The staff knows these regulars by name, they know their orders, they know how they like their drinks. And the regulars - they know the staff. They know about their kids and what they're doing for summer vacation. The regulars know exactly who they want to work with for their order (and who they don't!). And they know what days their favorite staff members work and prioritize coming on those days to see them!

And it's more than the surface-level stale interaction you find at just about any other place around. It's genuine conversation and interest. Many times it's a friendship. It feels like a small-town restaurant from 30 years ago in a world filled with monotony, impersonal service.

Don't believe it? Step inside Fish Shack's sister-spot Calypso down the street. Sure, it's pretty busy too - but that standout loyal following is absent. The food is almost as good and they've got a similar menu and thematic decor - but the vibe is mundane, average, and inauthentic.

And what's more valuable? A crowded restaurant full of a random mix of first-timers and infrequent customers or a deep bench of the same folks who have been coming every year for years and bringing new friends and family into the mix as they return. I know which I'd prefer.

Fish Shack without it's regulars? It becomes just another place in a crowded market competing for your dining dollar. The value of Fish Shack isn't in Mr. Holy Holy and the one-and-done tiktok crowd who descend like sheep just to graze off to the next recommended joint a few weeks later. It's the community... the regulars that makes it tick and are the greatest sign that it's working.

So to the reviewer who didn't have a great experience: maybe it happens from time to time? I doubt it - I haven't actually seen, experienced or even think it would happen in such a way as described. Even as regulars we often have to wait and it sometimes feels like everyone around us gets their food more quickly.

Truthfully, when like 80% of the tables are regulars it's hard to see how being a regular becomes a real differentiator. But it's a popular spot and the kitchen can get backed up. It happens - be patient and maybe get to know the awesome folks working there. My recommendation? You enjoyed the food. Now go back, introduce yourself and join the crowd.

You'll be glad you did.

The Fish Shack is our “go to” place for great food and even better service! Dani, Brandi and Kiki are wonderful - they remember you, your order and make you feel like family the moment you walk into the restaurant! It is a local gem of Lighthouse Point, and it is the people who work there that keep us coming back for more! We will miss you for the month you are closed for renovations; and can’t wait to welcome you back after the work is completed!
