Old World Polish Deli

Patrons BEWARE …I never write reviews but this time it’s a must. I brought my mother who loves Polish food to have some lunch and to start there was no greeting or friendliness whatsoever. Ok that fine we all have different personalities. I thought maybe it’s a cultural thing. So I asked the woman behind the counter to tell us the type of hot food that was prepared today and she acted like we were bothering her, rushing us through ordering and also being a little pushy on adding more food to the plates. To the point where I had to say we don’t eat that much, thank you.

We paid (what seemed to be very overpriced) and tipped (I regret that now). My mom wanted some red borscht soup which said “buy one get one free on the fridge”, so I brought two containers up to the register to pay. The SAME woman who rang us up not even 15 minutes before told me the total for the two soups was $50 and change, trying to charge us twice for the meal we already paid for and the soup. I explained to her we already paid, and that she was the one who rang us up, and she blamed it on “using the second computer” instead of the original one that she rang us up on. (How that matters I have no idea)…so then she rang us up for the soup and it came to $13 and change. I told her it was buy one get one free as written IN HANDWRITING on the refrigerator door and she told me that that was impossible so I brought her to the refrigerator door and showed her in black-and-white that it said “red borscht soups buy one get one free”and still she told me that that wasn’t supposed to be, but she would “allow” it this time! What in the actual ….

Needless to say reading all the other reviews it looks like they like to sell expired food and im not the only one that has had a bad experience. If you choose to go, be sure to read and keep your receipts cause they’re banking on you to not pay attention. Also food was mediocre at best. Let’s pray we don’t have the runs.

- UPDATE : the owner’s response doesn’t even address the main concern at the fact that the same person deliberately and knowingly tried to charged me twice and not honor their own sale of Buy one get one products — which they wrote in English. English may not be their first language but I assure you they speak and understand perfectly. Shady is shady in every language.

At 1st i loved the variety of European food. On the contrary, they do not greet you, they don’t pay attention to whether you need assistance or not. To top it off she questioned the bills i was giving her as if they were fake.
That has never happened anywhere with my cash, not the bank that it came from, not anywhere. I felt highly disrespected as if each bill i handed her wasn’t good enough. After inspecting 2 bills, she accepted the 3rd bill i handed her as if it looked ANY different than the others. And she did not look at it long enough to determine fake or not. THEY WERE NEW BILLS FROM THE BANK. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Not a friendly place for me personally. Although the variety of food is good, unfortunately, they will never have my business again.

Ive been coming here for quite some time. Got some pierogies to go today. The are a third smaller than they use to be and the fillings were bland.

I will avoid this store never again. prices from space

Absolutely one of the best Polish delis I've been to. The potato pancakes and the pierogis are to die for.

These were the best homemade pierogies we've ever had! We really liked the sauerkraut and mushroom stuffed ones. Originally, we were just going to do pickup, but we grabbed a few more things to try (sausage, potato pancakes, and a fermented bread soft drink) and everything was delicious! Everyone was friendly and helpful too. It was nice to have a little dining area within the shop by the windows with reusable plates and utensils (not entirely pictured). We are visiting from Ohio and wish we had this deli in Columbus!

Great little spot with food and beer from Poland. They also have prepared hot food everyday too! Kielbasa, cabbage, etc… the homemade ham n cheese sandwich was just like my grandma used to make me! Great spot!! All kinds of homemade pierogi’s here too to take home!

They should be open until 7:30pm with hot food. Most people aren't out of work or home until 6pm. Or stay open late 1 night a week like Wednesday. Jak shea mash!

Amazing variety of Eastern European meats and grocery. It’s been my go to spot for lunch lately. I would highly recommend, the hot table choices and fresh sandwiches are FIRE!

Great little deli and a restaurant. Always fresh home-made comfort food from Polish kitchen. Love the selection of cold cuts kielbasa, always eat-in to get the freshest from the granny working in the kitchen in the back, and buy prepared food to take home. Highly recommend their hand-made pierogi which I buy frozen and cook 15 min in boiling water at home. My fav are meat pierogi, potato, cabbage + mushrooms, and tart cherry. Do try, you won't be disappointed and will surely go back. Thank you for your hard work and tasty food!
