Found this place on the ole Yelp and figured I would ride over and give it a try. The location is off a main road, so going around back to the alley and parking is the best choice. The interior was very clean and cozy. I'm sober, but there was a large selection of alcohol, if that tickles your fancy (they specialize in Belgium Beer and such). The lady who waited on me was extremely personable; greeted me when I walked in the door and just generally pleasant, I ordered a Coke to drink and for my lunch, I got a pork loin sandwich, with fried. She asked me what kind of sauce I wanted with my fries and boy do they have some options... which was somewhat surprising, but completely welcome. I chose the 'Samurai' sauce, which is a ranch based sauce, with chile (if I remember correctly); the sauce was delicious! Starts off smooth and has a little bite at the end. The sandwich I had ordered warm, which if I were to have a complaint, it would be that it could have been a tad warmer. That being said, the sandwich was awesome! Generous amount of meat and cheese, and the bread was to die for. All in all, super glad I made the trip over to The Belgium Monk, and will definitely stop by and try some of their other fare. Stop on by and check them out!

Gosh, where to begin? We stopped here for lunch on the way from Sarasota to Fort Myers because we saw good reviews on yelp. It was actually a bit funny how disappointing our experience was. First, one of their featured beers was not available on tap. Not a big deal. Second, the French onion soup was not available, even though it was well into the lunch hour. Then, the roast beef for the roast beef sub was not available. No problem -- we ordered their famous frites but those were not available. Finally, we opted for the Belgian waffle. They said that they had no waffles either because the waffle maker was stopped in customs. So basically, everything that makes them a Belgian specialty restaurant was unavailable. They also forgot to deliver our appetizer, so we just had them remove that from our order. They delivered a cold sub when we ordered a warm sub. The grilled cheese sandwich tasted like it was made with those cheese slices that come wrapped in plastic. Terrible overall experience -- would NOT recommend.

Good food. Fun little spot. Drove up from Naples and wasn't disappointed. Heard they are moving nearby to a larger spot soon.

"Open" on Google apparently means closed in reality...

FYI this place is beer and wine only. Also, there are no bar games. Apparently the games were removed years ago--so no darts or pin ball (like some of the photos on here depict). Other than the fact of reality not living up to expectations--experience was good, service was good. Only had one drink, no food. Probably won't come back though since we literally only came here for the bar games.

We had such a great time at their music bingo night! This place is truly a hidden gem. We snacked on loaded nachos (the best I have ever had) and the big pretzel with beer cheese. The food was sooooo good! The service was prompt and attentive by our server Donna. Trust me you will not regret stopping at The Belgian Monk!

Took almost 30 minutes to get a side salad in a 5 by 5 bowl, it was carrots and lettuce, $7. Food was cold, all of it, if you want a beer, cool, You’re good do not take a date there you won’t get a second one, I’m told me how good that place was really excited to go there and we ain’t going backOverall rating: ??

Says open until nine. A group of us showed up just after 6. They were closing and turn us away. Decisions like this is what keeps small businesses from growing. I've been here multiple times and it is a wonderful place but once you can't rely on their hours it's time to move on to the places you can.

This bar is a gem, hidden on the way through Punta Gorda. Please search for it, you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend the meatball waffle sandwich, the French onion soup and the many beers they have on tap. When it comes to bartenders, you can’t find one nicer than Donna. She is very pleasant and a great conversationalist. We will definitely be back!!

I just recently went here after not coming for a few months, and noticed the food wasn't as good and it cost over 100 dollars for a simple lunch. Beers are good but 10 dollars a beer while a bloody mary is 12. A waffle costs nearly 15 dollars and that's all you get. French onion soup is good, but at 11 dollars overpriced. Waitresses are good, but seems like high turnover rate. Prices never used to be that high, you can easily get lunch somewhere else for half the price.
