They charge you a 4% fee for using a card, I knew this and brought cash. So I pay with cash and they are gone for about 10 min. They come back and hand me my cash back, telling me that no one went to the bank and they don't have the money to give me change. They then proceed to charge me the 4% to use my card, even though it was their fault I could not pay cash. I hope that 4% was worth it, cause not again.

We tried Cape Haze Tavern tonight for our first time. It was fairly empty on a Friday night. We ordered simple meals—a Rueben, fish tacos and a beer—not a very complex order and not much margin to get it wrong. The fries looked like they may have tasted good if they had been warm. The top of the Reuben looked nice and crispy. The fish tacos looked full. The beer looked good. With all that, what could be wrong? The Rueben was soaking in sauerkraut juice and the bottom bread dissolved and fell apart; I worked to eat it but it quickly became Rueben soup. Ahhh, the beer…no bueno here either—it was room temperature. Maybe the fries? They were cold (cold fries and Rueben soup?). $28 for a Rueben soup and a drink. Maybe the fish tacos would redeem CHT? Tiny specks of fish were in there somewhere…my wife who ordered the tacos is now sitting here sick—she’s never gotten sick from the taco truck tacos but got sick tonight at CHT. The service? The server was very nice but we only saw her once before the check came. Given the Rueben soup I was navigating I needed lots of napkins. I finally asked the person eager to clear our plates (time to go?) to bring me some napkins so I could clean up. Time to pay for this meal. $50 for a Reuben, a domestic beer and 3 fish tacos. The server informed us that the owner forgot to get cash at the bank today so they could not accept our cash. She said that we had to pay with a credit card. Oh….and CHT charges an extra 4% if you use a credit card; so they handed back our cash, swiped our credit card and charged us another 4% because they couldn’t give us change for cash. Can I have a cold beer, warm fries and a Rueben? Apparently not at CHT.
