this is me and my boyfriend’s favorite place to eat! the food never disappoints. we love the miso soup and edamame. the super dragon roll is my favorite. my boyfriend is half japanese and he’s picky when it comes to finding good japanese food and he loves coming here. it’s the only place we’ll go for sushi now. sometimes the wait time to be seated and for the food to come out can be quite long but it’s worth it!

Happy Salmon is hands-down the best sushi in Pinellas County—fresh, authentic, and beautifully presented. Cozy spot with fantastic service and rolls that keep you coming back. The Snow White roll is a must-try!

Where do I start? Happy Salmon is truly one of the many gems in Safety Harbor. It’s become a staple date night spot for my husband and I. Each time we go we are always amazed at the quality and taste. Our favorite rolls are the Jessica, Snow White and Howl O Scream rolls. We always start with the steamed dumplings and if the beef bowl special is on the menu we will always have a bowl of that. The beef bowl is out of this world and we can’t get enough. The beef is seasoned so well and in thin cuts. Seriously anything we’ve tried on the menu is always delicious and fresh. The owner is Japanese and is the kindest and hospitable host. The interiors transport you to that izakaya, authentic Japanese restaurant feel.

On my birthday I came to them and asked to make a takeaway order, to which they refused, without explaining the reason!!! I was ready to wait as long as necessary, but they refused to make a takeaway order!!!!! I will never come to you again and will not recommend it to anyone! My birthday was ruined .... Thank you……!!!!

This is the sort of place you would expect to see Anthony Bourdain (rip) sitting around eating the most amazing sushi and speaking with the chef in one of his shows. The service takes a while but it’s worth the wait. The chef does pretty much everything himself from clearing the table, getting your drinks to making your food and bringing it to your table. You just know he has a life story and I’d love to hear it. The food is absolutely the best in the area. I don’t like writing reviews like this because currently I can arrive at 6pm and get a table. I have no doubt that it won’t be long until it will be to busy.

Place was great! Other than the fact that you might have to wait a while for your sushi, it’s a fantastic spot for sushi made with love.

I’ve been to Japan a few times, and I can confidently say this is my favorite spot for sushi when I don’t feel like making it at home.

I don’t mind waiting a bit longer—personally, I think it’s well worth it. I remind myself that it’s a family-owned business making some damn good sushi.

There was one time during a busy evening when I waited quite a bit longer than I’m normally comfortable with. That said, I understand the sushi-making might all fall on one person’s shoulders. It might help if someone could assist the sushi master during peak hours or maybe even develop a more efficient system in the kitchen to ease the workload and improve turnaround time—whatever the pain point might be behind the scenes.

Still, despite the occasional wait, the quality and care that goes into the food keep me coming back. Highly recommend.
