My wife and I came here for a short getaway. We spent one day at the Spa for a couples massage and other services. The spa and spa staff were great. Overall our trip was great. The hotel felt a little bit dated but it was clean and comfortable. We were there during the off season so there were not a lot of people there. The room rates were very affordable compared to other spa hotels in the area.
My first solo trip as well as my first wellness retreat. I must say it was the most incredible experience and would do it again!! Mary was awesome and the entire experience was excellent. The food was amazing, the massages were to die for. I plan on doing this every year! After you read other reviews...the hotel is older...that is why people love it.
We booked a Bayview room and had a courtyard view only. We could only see the bay if we had brought binoculars with us which we hadn't. I'm very saddened by the experience as we were married here in 2011 and had top notch service. Wyndham now owns it and it is a disgrace to what is once was with the exception of public areas. Shame on them as this is a historical landmark. Thank you for ruining a special event.
1- this is not a spa atmosphere. It is run down and actually areas that armrest unsafe and insecure. There were people drunk and fighting in the pool area, rude people on cell phones and long loud conversations inside the spa area, I hurt my hand on a door that was rusted out and not attached to anything propped up on a wall. Water left n the floor for two days and Lois music outside my hotel room almost every afternoon. This is a party atmosphere not a spa. I was extremely disappointed.
The Safety Harbor Spa is a frequent location for our family, as we have relatives in the area. The staff is very friendly, knows us by name as we stay here time and time again, and is always accommodating to any requests we may have. The grounds have been upkept extraordinarily well over the recent past, and the pool & bar area in the courtyard are favorites for hosting guests because everyone always wants to visit The Spa. Would highly recommend for a trip to explore the Tampa, St Pete, or Clearwater areas while still wanting a more relaxed place to go back to at the end of the day
Very good hotel. Wonderful. I am stay wiyh my family and we are so happy because we are always enjoy moment and relax time. We are like service and animation program and night show. Perfec. Thank you for rest.
We had a lovely dinner at the Fountain Grill on July Fourth with Michele as our great server. The Bar is always fun and the Resort was filled with happy, festive patrons. We then got comfy by the pool to observe the July 4th Fireworks. They were really grand and a real Blast! Everyone at the Resort was so nice, but no-one could top Christina in Housekeeping who single handedly promised to find my little purse that was lost in the massive exit of all of the Fourth of July revelers. She never gave up and indeed did return to me my favorite bag! This was quite a feat and her effort and pleasant nature will never be forgotten by me. The Resort and Spa is blessed to have Christina in their employ, and so are all of the people lucky enough to meet her!
I did not hesitate to book by room at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa because it was a Wyndam property. The age of an established Resort should add to its charm and beauty, unfortunately that was not my experience! I time for deep cleaning and renovation!
The location can’t be beat, nestled between downtown Safety Harbor (so many good restaurants and cute shops) and Tampa Bay. The resort has a lot of vintage charm and potential to be brought back to its grandeur. We enjoyed the pool and food, didn’t use the spa. Our room was on the 1st floor and opened out to the park/bay area. Was nice to be able to walk right out to the walking path in the morning. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was fine, but the carpet and popcorn ceiling have got to go. The entire place, but particularly the rooms, could definitely use some work. We didn’t have any issues with mold or cleanliness in our room, but the other reviews mentioning that don’t surprise me. While waiting to check-in, we overheard plenty of complaints. We are local and were here for a quick weekend getaway. Our room was less than $200 night, so overall I was satisfied for what we paid, but would love to see what this place could become with some TLC.

I do not recommend this place! There is way better out there! I went for a "Fun Day" with friends, it includes brunch, champagne, access to all the amenities and a full body massage. Well when I booked my massage I thought afterwards I would enjoy the brunch, champagne and amenities that came in the package..... but they failed to mention there was a schedule of all of this! Well after being informed of this I asked for a refund on the other part I wasn't able to get and they gave me a $9 gift card! I paid $160 and I get $9? So fine I left VERY disappointed and knew I'd NEVER come back so I tried to use the $9 for a drink but the bar was not able to use my gift card. I went to a restaurant and sat with my friends and no one ever walked up to us! 10 mins we waited, no acknowledgement at all! I now decided to talk to a manager of this very unpleasant waste of my time. But of course there was no one in that we could speak to! We got a name and number of the Manager but long story short, we talked to Jean one time and was told she would help fix this and then never heard from her again despite leaving many messages. I must strongly add that the massage I received was not good at all. I feel she was happy to push me out of the door! I felt like she was only using one hand to give me a massage for a while, and that is uncomfortable. Did her hand get tired or something?
Safety Harbor Spa and Resort is a wonderful property located in the town of Safety Harbor. Safety Harbor is a wonderful town to visit and the resorts backyard is located right on Tampa Bay. The service, cleanliness, and access to all amenities are available at this resort. Water, water everywhere, with three beautiful pools, two hot jacuzzis, steam rooms and saunas and access to Tampa Bay, plenty of water to keep you happy. Then the icing on the cake is the many types of massage packages available. I really enjoyed my stay at this resort. My only complaint is, although the rooms were spotless clean, I found the rooms needed to be updated with new furniture and updated bathroom fixtures. Also all fitness and cardio equipment need to be updated with more modern equipment. Overall, this resort is very nice.
It was a great location and nice room. Can walk across the street to downtown. The pier was next to the Spa and there are nice walking areas. I am planning on staying there again the end of 2023. Everyone was nice and helpful.
We stayed at saftey harbor for 3 nights on our vacation to tampa. The property is beautiful and the spa is awesome. The staff are great and the room was very comfortable and clean. If you can, I recommend the bay view room with a balcony. Awesome view. The breakfast at the restaurant was also very good. Take advantage of the hot tubs, pools, sauna and steamroom while you are there. Loved the saftey harbor area and would 100% stay there again. It is a nice, quiet and beautiful part of town to stay in while in Tampa
This hotel needs to be shut down. Remodeled. And EXTENSIVELY trained. There are racist unwelcoming employees at the front desk. My MOST inviting experience while staying at safety Harbor was my walk to the Starbucks— for the first time in that city I was greeted with an actual smile. I was welcomed; I was thanked for being there. For a $5 tea. Unlike the front desk at Safety Harbor “resort”. I witnessed Allen SHOVE a parking pass across the desk to my cousin who lost her father just days before. Because he was tired of waiting on us? Because my BRIDE aunt neglected to put her only daughter as a guest on her “wedding suite” so that she could park her car? He was less than pleased that he had to give service to my black family. Managers and supervisors who do not follow through or keep their word; no responsibility to appease or correct problems for their guests. From the moment I checked in, I called, waited, left messages and followed through for correspondence from a manager who could help me with charging/billing issues. It was indubitably clear to me, that no one was interested in being of service during a time of grief and celebration for my family. (Or maybe that level of service is reserved for more favorable non colored guests) Disregard for family trauma or circumstances. Old grounds without proper upkeep. Hair in the mini fridge. No microwave. Blood was visible on the elevator buttons to Athena building—the entire stay. My spout/faucet fell off while I was in the midst of showering. No attempt make things right with the guest. No discounts offered. Complimentary food or beverage. Not even a simple “ I’m sorry that happened to you. They did have a maintenance person come fix it—who was much kinder than anyone I encountered at the front desk. Allen, Steve or Chris horrid examples of HOSPITALITY. I am a diamond member of Hilton. This was my very first stay at a Wyndham resort and unfortunately I am not willing to give Wyndham or any flagship name my business again! Safety Harbor “resort” and spa is a staple in that community and has a long running name and reputation, it is a shame that this was my experience. I’ve already escalated this matter to several bureaus but thank you for FINALLY asking how my stay was almost two weeks later.
