It’s been a few days, I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but this one has been haunting me. I’m only writing this because this place has a reputation as one of the nicest places in town and I just can’t stand for that. To those who are used to boring basic corporate food delivered restaurant food then I guess this place is fine. However it is far far far from a fine dining experience. I had a mid lunch here a year or so ago and was never inspired to come back. This weekend however my sister informed me that we were having my mothers birthday here. So I was excited to give it another chance, never again.
Firstly; she made reservations a week and a half in advance and we had literally the worst table in the place. We were seated right next to the entrance along the pathway for not only the servers to run to the kitchen, but also for all of the outdoor guests to come in to use the restroom. The place was half empty on a sunday afternoon with more than several other options to seat us more comfortably. I discovered this though too late as my group had already been seated. You see I had just spent 24 min outside waiting for the valet parking attendant. I asked the guests who were leaving and they told me that they too had been waiting just over a half hour to get their car back.
Well I put on a smile and joined the family, determined to have a positive experience. I ordered the croque monsieur and was sadly disappointed. The menu listed it as being on sourdough and with béchamel sauce. It was made with what looked and tasted like thick cut texas toast, white fluffy and bland. The opposite of sourdough. The lack of sauce made even more present by the dryness of the bread. It was served with fries, ?!? Traditionally this comes with a side salad with a french or balsamic dressing, a perfect crisp bite in contrast to the salty cheese on the sandwich. The fries were too much, mire salt carbs and grease? Who out that together. Also it is not as though the fries were anything to write home about. In fact they were some of the blandest I’ve ever seen, quite obviously frozen from a corporate food delivery. I looked over at my sister’s dish and I could tell her salmon was cheap and colored as well, her stomach ache later that day finishing off what I assumed. My other sister ordered a pizza and the server didn’t think to tell her it was a full size to serve three or four people. Who is that unaware?
Talking about the server she did something I have never seen a server do before. And this is really why I’m writing this. This place sells it’s self as upscale and the largest part of an upscale experience to me is the service. Here it obviously wasn’t the food. She complimented my mother on her ring and then proceeded to grab her hand and pull it up closer for her to look at. My mom was thrown off, getting a compliment but simultaneously getting manhandled with this stranger in her personal space. She then grabbed at the necklace she was wearing and touched her earrings. Who does that?!? A total disrespect of personal space and boundaries and a complete disregard of her position as our server.
Lastly several of my party asked for some things to go. And instead of taking the items to the kitchen and preparing them all for them, she brought the bags out and made everyone pack their own to go bags! How on earth does this place have the rating it has? Just because they put wood paneling up and French looking tiles.
I highly DO NOT recommend this place. Look around the area, this town has an over abundance of restaurants far superior to what one gets here.
And lastly, I want to point out how sad is it that the place is literally walking distance from one of the bay area’s best organic farmers markets, and they don’t take advantage of it at all. Such a missed opportunity to offer the quality they claim to provide.

My future sister-in-law hosted my bridal shower here last Saturday and it was amazing! The event coordinator, Ann, and her team at Cassis were very attentive. The service was impeccable, Ann and our server were very detail-oriented and the food was very delicious as always. I usually go to Cassis for dining or coffee but now I highly recommend it for events! Ann is a photographer so we also appreciated the photos she took of our group. Really appreciate that they made it such a wonderful experience for our families and friends.

I worked with Ann, the events manager, to plan my future SILAS bridal shower. Ann was warm, helpful, professional, and patient in helping me to plan every detail to make a day about which everyone is sending heartfelt compliments. The room was set up to accommodate our specific needs, the food was delectable and gorgeously presented. Ann was able to suggest a flower vendor who delivered designs that fit perfectly into our theme. Everything was perfect, and Ann helped me to feel comfortable and able to enjoy the party as both the host and a guest. I highly recommend this venue and cannot say enough about my positive experience with Ann. We also booked the rehearsal dinner with Ann and Cassis, and I am genuinely looking forward to returning.

The atmosphere is very nice. The service was very good. The food was okay. I had a few items. Quiche, French toast, croissants, avocado toast, etc. The food was good but nothing really special. It is very commercial tasting and looking. The place is very big and has what seems like 200 seats.

Second time, this time for lunch. The first time was for breakfast, and I can only say excellent. The food, customer service, and cleanliness of this restaurant are exquisite, as is the music.
