Great dive bar! My partner and I go every year when we visit. It is a true dive bar. If you are kind to the staff they treat you well, if you aren’t you will be asked to leave. The drinks are strong and cheap. Cash is preferred. I highly recommend if you are looking for a low key place.

I went in at 11pm on 07/30/25 to wait for ten mins not to get served. I went towards the bartender and she was like I have three girls at the other end of the bar to serve first. I watch her finishing serving the ladies and then proceed to serve someone else. I didn’t say a word and left . As I go to leave she said some foolish comment expecting me to wait all night. What an unprofessional , dumb bartender. She should not work there. The funny thing is I wanted a surfside a drink you don’t even have to make. I will never come back to trashy bar.

I'm from St. Pete and have been here many times. I went for the first time in probably a decade last night, and was disgusted by the presence of German cockroaches crawling on the walls underneath the bar, while the bar was packed with people. I had my purse on a hook under the bar top and another customer tapped me on the shoulder and pointed out a roach that was about to CRAWL INTO MY PURSE! I spotted 2 more after that. I get this is an old dive, but maybe consider getting some kind of pest control? I personally can't go back knowing this. Don't use the wall purse hooks or you'll be taking home some new friends!

I really love emerald - but was so disappointed in how they treated me tonight. I’ve been a regular for years and I’m a st Pete native. I truly empathize with the bartender if he was having a bad day, and understand it is a dive bar… however, there’s a way to treat humans on a basic level.
