Kilwins Ice Cream - Chocolate - Fudge

Went in for ice cream cones on my moms birthday yesterday. She gave the cashier a $20 & came back with $2…. The ice cream was pretty decent but come on $18 ice cream cones?? Really? The cone itself was completely stall also, however the ice cream itself was good. TOTALLY NOT WORTH SPENDING YOUR MONEY!

A great place with excellent ice cream, shakes, and treats.

It's certainly not cheap, but, hey, it's Downtown St Pete, on the water, and most times I'm in the area, I stop in and get at least a waffle cone.

They have a lot of other items and services but I can't speak to those as much. I mostly get cones or shakes, both of which are nice.

Beware the crowds, though.

Parking: It's Downtown St Pete - maybe you can find a meter on the street, but better if you use a garage. Which is usually what you're doing if you're in the area, anyway.

I live on Central, so I tend to go to the 2 ice cream places closer to me. Also, I just like vanilla ice cream on a cone. Plain. I went here for the first time last night and their classic vanilla is the best I have had in St. Pete and it's not by a small margin. Very friendly staff as well.

I love kilwins.. but the past 2 times i visited this location the same girl took my order… didnt fill up my $8 cup of icecream. When they charge that much they should fill it to the top!!

Not to mention almost every single one of the staff members looked absolutely miserable…

I am a St. Pete local. I love kilwins cake batter ice cream. However, this particular location on Beach Drive seems to be the only one where it’s inconsistently available. After several visits and inquiries, I learned they rotate it with another flavor and store it in the back.

There is an employee, who I believe may be a manager or in a leadership role (an African American male), and I’ve noticed he is often on his phone during my visits. This past weekend, he was the one to assist me once he finished up on his phone (with a line of 7 people waiting). When I asked for cake batter ice cream, he told me, “We’re out.” I mentioned that this has happened before, and usually, someone finds it in the back. He stood firm, saying they were out.

Another employee, while helping a different customer, overheard and said, “We definitely have it. I’ll help you when I’m done here.” I waited, but then a third employee came over (young caucasian female). When I repeated my request for cake batter, I explained that the other staff member had said they would help me. She replied, “We don’t have it right now.” I clarified, asking, “Do you not have it out, or is it out of stock?” She admitted they had it, but they had replaced it with seasonal flavors and wouldn’t bring it out. When I asked if I could get a scoop or a pint as they had done before, she refused.

At $9 for a cone and a single scoop, plus ASKING for a tip, the customer service here is extremely disappointing. The employees at this location are by far the rudest I’ve encountered at any Kilwins. It seems to be a leadership issue. On a previous visit, I witnessed a young employee (in her early 20s) rudely belittling a colleague when he asked her to clean something. She laughed in his face and said, “I don’t care about this place. I’m going to be a nurse soon.”

While I understand that no one is perfect, the staff at this location seem completely uninterested in the customers or their jobs. I live closer to the John’s Pass location, where the service is always kind and respectful. In fact, across all the locations I’ve visited—Lakewood Ranch, John’s Pass, St. Armands—the Beach Drive location in St. Pete is the only one where I’ve consistently had a bad experience.

When getting a $9 ice cream cone or $20 pint becomes this much of a hassle, it’s no longer worth going out of my way to visit.

I lived here my whole life, love a Carmel Apple, stoped into kilwins, asked them to slice it and this is how they presented it. Usually it’s beautifully cut and presentable, but this is absolutely unacceptable to present this. On top on each other. The person got snappy with me when I asked why it was like that. Still served it to me and I paid. Worst location they have, by far.
