I have heard about this restaurant for many years and until recently, visited it. I have been there three times and really like this place. They are fixing up the place, but it still has a nice ambience so if you are looking for a fancier setting, this is not it, yet. My first visit, I had the jerk pork. And the other two times, I had the jerk pork again. Why? Because it is very good and tasty. Though it says jerk, it is not overbearing, and the pork is so tender. Very meaty and the portion, I get the large and get two meals out of it. They offer other things, but the pork has my attention, for now. They offer two sides and have a great Island Punch. I am still exploring the restaurant and will be trying other things in the future. Meaning, I will be back.

If one day i come in and the oxtails are falling off the bone that’s how they are suppose to be!! I don’t want to come spending almost 25 dollars for oxtails that I can’t even get through to the meat because the fat on the outside is so tough. that’s not right if u don’t wanna make the food correctly or u don’t know what your doing ask for help or find another job.

I ordered the large oxtail plate with yellow rice. I had mac n' cheese as my side dish. Food came to our table fresh and PIPING hot. Too hot to eat at first but I suppose there could be worst problems in life ?.
The Mac n' cheese was a bit drier than what I am used to but it was very flavorful. I recommend it. The oxtails should have been the star of the show but they were missing a full flavor profile. However, I will say that I didn't eat it all in the restaurant and took leftovers home. When I warmed my plate later, the oxtails had seem to absorb it's "gravy" and tasted superb. Maybe the extreme heat to which they arrived at the table earlier didn't allow my taste buds a full experience.
I would recommend this restaurant. One of my lunch partners this day ordered the jerk chicken wings and commented that they were EXCELLENT!
Parking: It is located in a strip mall. Plenty of parking throughout and directly in front of restaurant.

Horrible customer service, Horrible food! Jerk chicken was so old and dry, not even spicy like jerk should be. The yellow rice was so sour and bad. I made the cook smell it and he was even offended. Vegeterian plate was so bland, waited over 30 minutes, just to have to get a refund. The Lady with glasses has a stank attitude and lacks customer service. Got a full refund and will never go back. DONT WALK, RUN AWAY.

Tried this place for the first time today. Curry chicken, regular plate was $13 dollars so I ordered the large for $17. If that was a large, I would hate to see what the small was. I was so pissed. Tiny amount of cabbage (very bland), rice and peas just okay. For the meat, I had one small drum stick and three tiny cut up chunks of chicken. I was beyond disappointed at the taste and portion. Service was just okay, she smiled so we will leave that right there.

First off prolly the restaurant is clean and the cashier was nice and helped me with the menu. Plenty of places to sit.
Food was very basic. The flavor wasn’t worth running home about. Oxtail/gravy barely seasoned no spice, sauce was watered down ( I prefer thick oxtail gravy. Didn’t fall off the bone how I would have liked. The plaintian and the Mac were the best things on the plate. I would not go again.

For $25 a plate (I brought 2 plates ) you only get 3 oxtails and pepper steak from the bottom of the pot really. My oxtails we're cut like you slice tomatoes every one knows that's 1 oxtail. Y'all need to be ashame. Oh and this supposed to be a LARGE. smh

I’m so disappointed, why would they give me old chicken it’s so hard and dry. I can’t even enjoy it.? It had to be cooked a day or two ago it’s so dry. The macaroni and cheese is not good. I used to really like this place. I’m so disappointed. I just had Uber to bring me my order and I cannot believe the quality of this food. Such a waste of my hard earn money!
Nasty place , no air conditioner

Food wasn't good tasted old ,like it was sitting over a heat lamp for half a day. Beaf patties have no spice, and sweat bead isn't sweet, every thing else is greasy. This place was good even great before now it's just lost its touch.
Amazing meal at Taste of the Islands. Staying nearby and came in extremely hungry on a scorching hot day. The fridge is stocked with an assortment of jamaican beverages and we enjoyed the made-in-house sorrel juice the most! All the meat was delectable!! we had the oxtail, wings, jerk chicken, and the curry chicken had the best gravy. Everything was fall-off-the-bone tender, seasoned well, and we cleaned our plates. We plan to come back again tomorrow. Thanks for the excellent meal!!
