Love this place! One of the few great local spots left in Saint Pete. Very down to earth, great service, cool decorations, chill vibe and the food is great. You can tell a lot of it is made in house, the Cajun tots were amazing

Our AirBnB hostess recommended this hidden gem! Family owned for 70 years. Nikki our server was amazing and we even met the owner, Jill, who still works 7 days a week in the restaurant in her 90s. The dining room is elegantly decorated in the Queen of England theme and my fiance and sister even had fresh English Tea made with honey/lemon. We sat outside on their large patio which were sectioned off for a relaxing, quaint atmosphere. My 4 year old niece got to feed the coy fish on site. My brother and I enjoyed the fresh grouper and the blackened shrimp/fried chicken meals were both delicious! Of course, we took home some of their homemade key lime pie and the Tuxedo Bomb dessert special! Highly recommend for a family visiting or living in the St Pete FL area!

I went there recently for the first time with a group of friends to celebrate a friend's birthday and had wonderful experience. Tasty food, nice sized portions, reasonable prices and great atmosphere. Two of us had great cheese steak sandwiches (one of which was on a gluten free bun) and two of us had huge portions of fish and chips.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free buns available

Our server Nikki made this experience even better! She is a cracker-jack server with a wonderful sense of humor!! The burgers + fries were fantastic! We stayed long after finishing the meals because the musicians were sooooo good! This place is not to be missed!

The BEST for outdoor dining, listening to live music (at just the right volume that enables you to still hold a conversation) Great day or night. An absolute local gem with a great history and magical atmosphere. Get the conch fritters!

This place has been around awhile and well worth a stop for a good burger. Get the full sized one for optimal taste. Cajun fries are very good. The patio is cozy and has a very nice layout. Service was wonderful.

I remember this place from more than 20 years ago when it was a lot more simple offering lunch to the working populous. Back then the vegetarian options were limited to hush puppies and fries. Now the place looks quite fancy, the bathtubs have grown in nicely, and besides a middle down the road American food, they offer black bean and fake meat burgers. The sides are expanded too but I couldn't find the hush puppies anymore. A very Florida place with outdoor seating only.

Great grouper sandwiches. This place has been around for over 100 years! It's cash only, so go prepared.

I have a new favorite restaurant (well, tied for favorite) in my sweet, beautiful city of St. Petersburg, Florida! I can't believe I've lived here for 25 years and never experienced The Chattaway until today! I've been intrigued, I've wanted to, it just never happened. But after today, it will happen many, many, many more times, I hope. I LOVE THIS PLACE! It is a combination of so many individual elements that I love: it's relaxed and casual, it has outdoor and indoor dining space, it is very historic--all I've been hearing for 25 years is, you've got to eat at The Chattaway, I can't believe you've never gone to Chattaway's, the burgers are the best in town at The Chattaway--it's CHARMING and whimsical (bathtubs as planters outside, for example), it is like a British tea room inside and just such a relaxed Florida feel outside, the service is lovely and the food is GREAT!!! They even have gluten-free buns--didn't see that one coming!I was with a big group of about 30 people for a meeting, so we took over the entire inside space and the poor waiter had such a challenge, as he had to somehow take everyone's orders very quietly as the meeting was going on, but he did it. I HAD to get the burger I'd heard so much about, and it was good, with very fresh adornments like purple onion, tomato, etc. Had the gluten-free bun (you had me at THAT), and what was truly wonderful were the sweet potato fries--sublime. I think I undid the gluten-free thing with those, as I think they were lightly floured or something but I'm choosing not to think about that, as whatever they did to them, they were fabulous. The whole experience was just so, at once, very relaxed and casual, yet also somehow you have the feel that you are in a very special place. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything about it and I won't be waiting 25 more years to go back as, like I said at the beginning, this is my new favorite restaurant in St. Pete!

What a wonderful eclectic place to have a delicious lunch. Chattaways is one of those places you would probably never go to unless someone told you how great it is. Along the edge of the property are brightly painted claw foot bathtubs "planters". Park in the dirt park lot and cross over the small wooden bridge over the "babbling brook" feeding the koi pond. There is a feeling of calmness as you enter the open air seating area.A small bar tucked away in a corner, a raised covered platform area with seating.Miss Jill is the spry British lady who started Chattaways with her now deceased husband and if you are lucky enough to see her, ask her to show you the English royalty tea room.Fish and chips are always on the menu but I always order one of their delicious cheeseburgers and fries.Chattaways is a hidden gem and I highly recommend. The menu offers a variety of options.Parking: Plenty of parking.Kid-friendliness: Kids would love the koi pond.

What a dump. Food and service was horrible. Took over an hour to get food and it was incomplete and not worth it.
