I was looking for something other than a typical breakfast platter or sandwich and I'm so glad I found the Wooden Rooster. I ordered the B.E.A.S.T. and it was full of flavor and the basil aioli really pulled it all together.

Sorry to say my veggie sandwich was so soggy. Why don't they toast the bread on both sides? Several restaurants do this now. ... the bread is only toasted on the outside so when they apply mayo, pesto hummus or chicken salad to the untoasted side the sandwich gets soggy very fast. Where has regular toast gone?
The tomatoes looked as if they were stepped on...can't believe they served them to me for an extra 1.50$. The hummus was only covering the middle of the bread. Don't think I will be back. Sorry, I liked this place.
Update : I did get my 1.50$ back after complaining about the tomatoes. Yet, why serve them in the first place? For 13$ a sandwich, I will bring my own and sit on the public bench and people watch.
Stay away. Bring your own!
Parking: Parking is a drag here. Park in the Core Parking garage for 10$ a day at Central and 1st st. Entrance is on 1st Ave s Good luck! I walk from my place.

The Wooden Rooster is my favorite DTSP Cafe! The food is delicious and the restaurant is really cute and inviting. It's a very welcoming environment with opens for tables or bar seating in front of the windows. The coffees are so good and I highly recommend the Apple Melt as a baguette, the Full Monty crepe and the beet crepe. A good mix of healthy and yummy!
Parking: You just have to find street parking and walk. It's at University and 2nd, there is no parking lot for the restaurant.

What an incredible littel Bistro. Obvipously a favorite for folks from all over. I heard couples talking about a visit here three years ago, they just had to re-visit. Rob, who is never idle, promptly takes orders, offers recommendations to the newbies, and makes sure the place looks awesome. The young lady behind the register and her associate behind the counter always welcome you immediately assist you with thier extensive menu choices, and i have nerver been steered wrong with their suggestion. if I could give the Rooster 10 stars I would. no matter what you orde save room for a Crepe done right for that carbohydrate coma! OMG they are awesome!

Nice place for breakfast and lunch! Like that they have plenty of vegetarian options, use sustainable materials and the staff was friendly. Prices are fair. I do wish they had a plant based option for the base of the sandwich, like a tofu, or tempeh, the waitress told us that has been mentioned before so let’s do it!
