If you’re on Siesta Key and craving amazing Thai food, I highly recommend Star Thai & Sushi Siesta Key! The flavors are authentic and fresh, the sushi is top-notch, and the service is always friendly. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot to unwind after a day at the beach. Don’t miss this gem!
We locked our keys in our car in front of the restaurant parking lot and the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was excellent and excellent service.

Ordered the Edamame and Gyoza appetizers followed by the Silver Sushi Boat. All were fresh and served at appropriate temps. Good selection of wines as well. Definitely recommend.

Quite ambiguous experience, though the fish was fresh and tasty which earned a place an extra star, the sushi rolls were poorly made and quite small. Same for other raw fish-based courses. Non-sushi courses were also rather small and blunt, not what you would expect from a Thai restaurant. So overall not so great experience for the price

Excellent place to celebrate a special occasion, or for a night out while visiting Siesta Key. We had a large group so we made a reservation. Our server, Pete, was very good and kept our drinks filled and the food coming. The restaurant was full and fun, and they celebrated our friend in a big way!

The only reason I’m leaving this negative review is because we were totally taken advantage of.
We ordered the “Boat” which is a 110.00 special. None of us are super familiar with sushi and instead of making suggestions to help us out, he just kept upselling us. We had no idea that we were purchasing the Boat AND additional rolls that we were asking about as well. We obviously brought a ton of sushi home with us.
Food was great. Service was disappointing.

Waitress service was pleasant but very slow (but water service was great). Our order also had one error. We accidentally spilled a glass of water on our table and no one even noticed or helped us clean it up. The food was pretty good. Then when it came to paying, they didn’t tell us ahead of time that the tip would be automatically added since we were a party of 6, and not only THAT, but the automatically added tip rate was 22%, and not only THAT, but the 22% was applied to the TOTAL not the subtotal, so we ended up tipping 23.5% on the subtotal. That’s egregious! We feel totally gouged. We live on the island but will have to seriously consider if we ever come back with a large party. It will definitely get knocked down our list of places we would go out to eat at.

I recently dined in this restaurant while working as a lineman for power restoration post hurricane Helene/Milton. After working 18 hour shifts for the last 14 days with minimal food and rest i wanted to treat myself to a nice meal as I love sushi. I ordered the party platter which was listed as having a variety of higher end rolls, sushi, and I believe sashimi as well. I was so disappointed in what I got because they were the most basic rolls, basically California and veggie rolls. The sushi was basic like what you'd get at the supermarket. I thought possibly they were low on supply post hurricane, but I looked and they had plenty of assorted fish at the bar. For 120 dollars it was a complete rip-off. I paid the bill as was requested, but have seen way better assortment at that price point. I wouldn't recommend this place in my honest opinion.

I visited this place a while ago, and overall, it was a great experience. The service was fantastic—staff were attentive, friendly, and quick to accommodate our needs. The atmosphere was pleasant, with a relaxed vibe that made the meal even more enjoyable.
As for the food, everything we tried was delicious. The sushi was fresh and beautifully presented, but the rice could have been a bit more flavorful. That said, it didn’t detract too much from the meal as the rest of the ingredients were spot on. If you’re looking for solid sushi and excellent service, I’d definitely recommend this place!

If you’re vacationing in Siesta Key and you don’t visit this sushi spot, you’re seriously missing out. My wife and I, all the way from Ohio, make a pilgrimage here a couple of times a year, and it never disappoints. The Sarasota Roll is so incredible, it might just redefine your sushi standards. The Black Dragon? It’s a flavor bomb that’s out of this world. And don’t even think about leaving without trying the Kai Sen Don—skipping it would be a crime against your taste buds.
This last visit was extra special as we were celebrating our 10-year anniversary. The staff went above and beyond, making our celebration truly memorable in the sweetest way. Shoutout to our amazing server, Peat—he was attentive, friendly, and made our experience even better. I rarely leave reviews, but this place is so exceptional that I HAD to share my experience. We’re already looking forward to our next trip to not only enjoy the fantastic food but also hit up the karaoke. With such a lovely staff and unbeatable food, this place sets the bar so high, you won’t find better anywhere in Sarasota or Siesta Key. Do yourself a favor: come here, eat, and thank me later.

Went in for lunch and it was a complete rip off. Smallest sushi rolls I’ve ever seen. $40 for a lunch special bento box and drink. I will not be back

The food was yummy but not absolutely excellent. It was somewhere between a 4 and 4.5. The hamachi appetizer was great, the specialty roll, spicy tuna and Mexican roll were also good but not great. When we realized there was another menu, which the server didn’t advise, we ordered stir fry with ginger and garlic that was really yummy. I would love to give it a 5 because the presentation was well done. The server was very nice but not pro active and aware as much as you would hope. Again overall a good experience and with some fine tuning could be a 5.
