attended the open mic tonight and it was, honestly, the worst i’ve ever been to. when i went over to the hostess to try and sign up, she was on a phone call — on SPEAKER — talking to someone about very clearly non work related business. mind you, this was during someone’s set — specifically, the other hostess’s set. i stood there for a minute or two without being acknowledged before giving up and just returning later.

both hostesses’ sets were just karaoke of modern pop songs. karaoke is weird to do at an open mic and imo kills the vibe. then there was a guy who went up for a comedy set and the hostesses just started talking to him in the middle of it while he was still on stage. not like improv riffing, they just started a not funny conversation about something he said. it was very weird.

when it was time for my set, it turned out they didn’t have a second mic stand set up so i had to really awkwardly hold my guitar. one of the guys working there was nice enough to hold up a mic to it while they figured out they did in fact have another mic stand and went and set it up. the hostess nicely offered that i perform a second song, so i did; she and her friends proceeded to talk loudly throughout the entire thing.

i hate to leave a negative review, especially because T&P used to be dear to my heart — i was one of the first regulars when it first opened, and this was the first open mic i ever frequented. but it has really fallen from grace. they are capable of better. as it stands, i do not recommend attending the open mics at all.

Excellent spot, great atmosphere, good drinks, yummy snacks, lots of games, and plenty of events going through the month.

Yo on G this place is LIT!! Me and roach 1 are always pulling up to the open mic nights. Sometimes we chill inside the display case and just marinate under the old LED’s that have dust. Sometimes we go into the speakeasy inside the couches to meet with the other critters for a cold one since the cafe didn’t pay their license on time. It’s chill tho! It’s fye! Here are some memories of me and roach 3.

Yoooooooo! Me and the homies love this place! Personally, one of my favorite spots to hang out at in Sunset Mall. The food is great, nice tunes, and the couches are MAAAAD comfy. Me and roach 2 always pulling up for band nights....rush hour gets crazy but you best believe we be getting some goooood snacks by the end of it. Heres a pic of me chillin'. Peace and love brothers!

Love this place. I always come to study and hang out with my friends where we occasionally indulge in chips and guac and we consider ourselves a certain connoisseur of the dish. One time…we asked for this dish and a tip: ask them to not be shy with the guac! works wonders!

Tea & Poets is my to-go indie tea shop for delicious tea served around the world. Hopefully, the Tea & Poets family can expand their community to bring in others to enjoy their mini shops, tea, coffee, matcha, and other events Tea & Poets has to offer like their weekly Wednesday night Mic Nights to showcase your poetic and musical talent. Will definitely visit there again and try other types of traditional tea. The best part about this place is the drawn aesthetic of the walls which reminds me of good ol Wynwood in Downtown Miami. The employees and owner were so nice of providing me a job application and make me feel welcome to be part of the Tea & Poets fam someday.

Kid-friendliness: Bring your kids to play board games, shop in mini marts, and showcase their talent for the young ones.

The ambiance is nice and the concept is cool; however, the Wifi is completely unusable. I spent 5 minutes waiting for google to load, and when I asked the barista, she said that it tends to run slow and told me that most people have to resort to using another business's Wifi. Could not open any of my emails because the Wifi was that slow and finally gave up and left to do work elsewhere. For a CAFE this is completely unacceptable. Service was also super slow and I didn't get my drink until 15+ minutes after ordering when I had to get up and ask the barista about it, who didn't prepare it until then.

Have enjoyed coming here in the past, but stopped in today to buy loose leaf tea and was very disappointed.

All of their teas are available on 3rd party ordering apps, so I almost placed an order for around $200 to go pickup in store. I was in the area so I stopped by instead and was told that they were unable to make the sale because they are unable to weigh the teas.

I asked if they were able to sell even a small amount of tea using another method of measure, but again, I was told I could not purchase anything- and they have no idea when it would be available to purchase again.

A funny situation for sure- myself, standing there with cash in hand, and being told I cannot purchase the product sitting behind the counter. Still disappointing because I was so looking forward to having a local shop to purchase loose leaf teas.

Tea & Poets is a great, casual, local hangout spot for various age groups; a lot of teenagers and college students hang out there after school or to study, and there are usually families coming and going as well as individuals just reading there. Its close to a Barnes & Noble and they do have books and games available for anyone. There are also a few outlets for people studying, and a large table with a big charger for studying and working. There are food options that they get from elsewhere, but I've also seen people bring in their own snacks. Their selection of teas and tea mocktails is fairly far ranging which gives you lots of chances to try out different options. There's also a secret menu ? but that's a little harder to get hold of.There are open mic nights on wednesdays and the big chalkboard calender in the front entrance of the store lists days they have live performances, trivia nights, and other events; their instagram is also worth checking to get a feel for the events and ambience.

This place is a local favorite. Is very quiet and interesting. They sell some jewelry and a few clothes for women along with candles, stones ( for decoration purposes) and incense. They don’t have a big menu selection and what they do have is not good neither bad. I do love their blueberry muffins. They have trovas here once in a while Overall is good for a relax cup of tea or coffee

Vegetarian options: Almost the entire menu is vegetarian

Parking: To park here you must park in the mall garage which is pricey. Is like 4 with some change per hour

Updating my review because the last time I left a review here was 7 years ago!! I’ve been coming to Tea & Poets a long time. It’s an amazing place with a great atmosphere - perfect place to get coffee / tea and sit down to read or work / study for hours. There’s plenty of outlets around and work tables and couches. They have an active calendar with lots of events such as open mic nights or DnD game nights. It’s an awesome little gem in Miami and so happy they’re still around after years.
