I was really disappointed with my recent visit to this brunch spot. The toast came out burnt with no butter or jelly — just tossed on the plate dry. But the biggest issue was the cinnamon pancakes. For $12, I expected something special, but what we got looked and tasted like microwaveable pancakes: small, flavorless, and definitely lacking the cinnamon that was promised on the menu.
To make matters worse, I was charged $2 for cheese I never ordered. When I brought up my concerns to the staff, they told me that “every chef makes pancakes differently,” which honestly isn’t an acceptable excuse. A restaurant should be consistent with their food, especially when charging premium prices.
Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. There are too many great brunch options out there to settle for subpar food and poor customer service.
The food was good…it all comes out on a board so that we did not realize and they only had one waitress and one person cooking they said…so we were there for two hours which there was only one other table in there so we did not expect to wait that long for our food. We got breakfast items and a few burgers. The staff was nice but since there was no one else in there and we were there for two hours they could have refilled our water pitchers or sodas but never did until the very end when we finally asked. It’s cute inside though and the concept is cute / just need more help or need to to be more efficient…not sure.
Weird atmosphere, dark and sunken chairs. Out of everything. Served on a communal board which is stupid and didn’t work at all. Wait staff were not great. Half my food options were out of stock, so I ordered something without half the ingredients and she seemed willing to add avocado to make up for it but still charged me. Also Christian music? Eerie time.
The food, the service, the ambiance? All amazing! The portions are HUGE! Great location. Not overly busy. Very comfortable seating. Nothing bad to say about it, at all! I love the way they serve everything on a board! We got the Brunch Bar Supreme sandwich, cheese grits (OHMYGOSH!), and the Basic Breakfast.
Hostess was horribly rude, unprofessional, and unsightly. Waitress seemed over life and forgot people’s food. Food came out wrong after a 30 minute wait. Whole restaurant seems like such a waste for such a good spot in the historic district
It's one of my favorite spots. My beagle was able to be with me while I was having a great brunch. Water was provided to my dog. I felt so welcome, and the atmosphere was so peaceful.
Really unique breakfast place with kind, attentive servers. Food was excellent but note that food is family style so plan on sharing.
My friends and I visited this location twice this past weekend, both times, everything was amazing. Great service, wonderful food, & great conversation with the owner and chef. I’m still thinking about those cheese grits!
Atmosphere, coffee, and employees ALL top notch! Would recommend to anyone in the area.

The eggs, bacon and potatoes were good. Would have liked our waitress to explain the menu better. I ordered a Latte for $5, wasn't hot or a full cup. When she came back with regular coffee for our table I asked for some. I was charged $3.50 more, so $8.50 for 2 cups of coffee. The pancakes were very small for a Charge of $15. Not what we expected.

Super disappointed!! When we we seated there were only a handful of other customers in the restaurant so I am not sure why it took over 40 minutes to receive our food!! We were excited about getting “brunch” but bummed to find out they were “out of French toast and eggs Benedict but there were other items we were happy to order. The lattes we ordered were TERRIBLE, we did not drink them and there was not even an offer to remove from the bill. Then we ended up waiting over 40 minutes for our waffles, bacon and potatoes. I asked the waitress while ordering if one order of the bacon and potatoes would be enough for one or two people since everything is a la cart and she informed me that it was only enough for one person….FALSE!!! Not sure if she said that because she does not know what a “serving size” is or if she was trying to upcharge our bill. One order of bacon and potatoes is MORE THAN ENOUGH for two people!!! The one good thing about this restaurant was the food…it was AMAZINGLY GOOD! However I most likely won’t be back because the negative completely outweighs the one good thing! So disappointing but luckily it was the only negative thing during our amazing trip to St Augustine!!! Also their listed phone number online is a non working number and the directions by goggle maps is not accurate and when mentioned this to the gentleman seating is his reply was “yeah we know”.

Water is gross, food portions are small and over priced, service was not great for the price. 12$ for a handful of fruit is a joke

Ancient City Brunch Bar is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown St. Augustine. Aside from the adorable art deco-esque atmosphere, they are serving up serious flavor here. Their brunch cocktail menu is unique and the drinks are a flavor explosion. The food is so flavorful and artisan crafted and plated. The value is unmatched. Don’t miss this location!
