Excellent paninis made with Cuban bread
I thought there would be more interesting gelato flavors but they're all quite basic. If you like sorbet though this is your place
must have new owners, used to love to go there for gelato, now the service is bad and the gelato simply isn't gelato... Please come back old owners!
Had the chicken Caesar salad and my daughters had paninis. Salad was so-so, the sandwiches were subpar. Overall, service wasn’t bad with the major exception of the woman behind the counter who was exceedingly rude. No need to go back.
Chill cafe, deli meat paninis and ice cream. One of the fairer priced eateries in the district.
As much as a adore gelato, Cafe Hidalgo has disappointed with it's absolutely horrendous customer service want too many times.
On multiple occasions we went to this gelateria within the displayed hours evaporation only to be met with sudden closures out of nowhere. The last time my friends and I, one of whom was from out of state we're anticipating going there.
We arrived and were greeted by a staff member who barely spoke any English, something inappropriate to begin with. This individual managed to communicate with us that we could return at 9:30 p.m. as we were anticipating something for dessert. We returned at 9:00 p.m. only to be met with the statement that they weren't closed. They made absolutely zero effort to accommodate the fact that we were paying customers whom they even told us to come back and that we were looking forward to having their gelato.
After an unpleasant conversation with another staff member, they flat out told us that they don't adhere to their displayed hours and just choose to close whenever they feel like it. This is terribly unprofessional and outright unacceptable. I will never be going back to this Cafe ever again and I highly recommend everyone to stay away and don't have your hopes up because no matter what the sign says or what the employees say, they'll be closed before you have a chance to buy from them.
Great gelato, absolutely abysmal customer service.
After dinner, we wanted something sweet. Gelato: they had so many delicious flavors
We got salted caramel and almond joy. Cute store! Great customer service. Decent prices!
Best gelato in St. Augustine!
Had the espresso frappe with homemade tiramisu and bacio hazelnut gelatos - delish! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Walked in an hour before closing and was told the manager closes early if the night is slow. I understand that, but then you need to adjust your official hours and just close early instead of saying you close at 10. You can clean up before actually closing, but don't be closed. Disappointed. Probably won't try to come back.

One Tiny scoop of gelato for a Big price in a tiny cup that if flipped over has an indentation underneath that gives you even less gelato. It’s a complete waste of money… there are a lot of other places to get ice cream and gelato… wish we had known. Won’t return to this establishment, sadly.
Unhygienic place, the sandwiches are simple and they give you bagged potatoes like lays or another brand, the coffee is terrible, the salad is horrible. As luck would have it, when I went to the bathroom the lady who was serving my table also went and I saw that she didn't wash her hands, so you're at risk if you decide to go to this place.

A great café tucked away in an amazing location.
I stopped here for a brunch and was not disappointed. Their espresso drinks were exactly what I was looking for, I got a flavored one and the vanilla did not overpower the coffee flavor. Very well balanced.
The pressed sandwiches are perfect for a quick snack before getting back into town. I recommend the rock, but the whole sandwich menue looked good.
Quality of the food is perfect, atmosphere cozy, and its a good place to escape the heat for a small bit. Highly recommend.

Dog friendly! But the service wasn't very attentive. We didn't eat here, just took a rest from the hot sun with the dogs. Seemed like a very standard bar, not too busy, but the tables were all very close together, so I imagine it would get crowded quickly.
