Stumbled across La Strada on a recent trip to St. Augustine. Restaurant is family owned and operated. Staff were very friendly and food was delicious. Restaurant decor is a little dated and could use a refresh. My wife has a dairy intolerance and Italian food is always a challenge because of the cheese and cream often used. However the staff and kitchen were able to accommodate her dietary restrictions. We both agree that we would eat here again.

I would not recommend this restaurant for anyone with dietary restrictions. Two people in our party are vegan, and despite clearly stating this multiple times, we were still served meat.

Our waiter was dismissive from the start. When we inquired about vegan options, he brushed off our questions. We ordered spaghetti with marinara and explicitly requested no meat. We also asked if vegetables could be added or ordered on the side, and he responded, “The chef is too busy for that,” which felt unnecessarily rude.

Despite our clear request, both pasta dishes contained chunks of meat. Our waiter never checked on us and had already left for the night. The waitress who took over was apologetic and explained that they have a plain marinara without meat—something we had already asked for. She offered to have the dishes remade, but the restaurant was closing and we had already eaten some of the food and at this point felt ill.

The restaurant did remove the charge for the improperly prepared meals, which we appreciated. The atmosphere and wine were enjoyable, and the non‑vegan members of our group liked their dishes. However, the waiter’s attitude and the failure to honor a basic dietary request made this a disappointing experience.

A quiet gem for local fams. Easy, consistent, delicious, inviting, warm, no fuss, Nonna’s recipes for sure, and friendly. Can’t go wrong with any dish. Go sit down, order some Chianti, and exhale.

EDIT: My 10 y/o just scarfed my leftovers…and asked for more. Chef Mark makes amazing food, it feels like ‘home’; Christina and James smoothly navigate the front of the house.

My go-to Italian restaurant when I return home, never had a disappointing experience here and the food has pretty much always been impeccable on my visits.

Shrimp Scampi with extra garlic is the way to go here but there specials they offer are always incredibly compelling.

My only real wish is that they'll offer parmesan slices for their caesar salad instead of powdered/finely grated.

Last trip Late Dec 2025. Service was a Joke,! 1 1/2 hours and no Entree! Was told an additional 30 min..We, party of 4, and at least 2 other couples served by same water WALKED! We were one of the 1st groups for dinner but got treated like we did not count!

The food is amazing and has always been spot on. I've never had an issue and everything is delicious. The service does take quite a while sometimes but the servers are very good at staying on top of your tables. If you have a large party expect to be there about 2 - 3 hours.

Website said this for Christmas Eve “ 2025: No reservations are required. Walk-ins are welcome. It is closed on Christmas Day.” on the Saint Augustine website it is a lie. They had six tables that looked open but they did take reservations. They need to clearly communicate with the city if they are going to falsely advertise. Don’t give this place business

We stopped here on Thanksgiving for dinner on our way to Key West and had a fantastic meal. Our servers were amazing, very attentive and the food was delicious. Only sad we don’t have this back home

I found this place about a year ago when dodging the crowds of the tourist area in St Augustine. I have been with multiple friends and family. I ordered a different dish every visit. Every single time this place delivers a delicious meal. The time to receive your meal is a little longer, but everything is made to order. Their sauce is perfect and everyone is friendly. Whether it is a small family dinner or date night, I promise you won’t be disappointed…In my opinion, this is the best secret in the area.
