Meehan's Irish Pub & Seafood House

We were visiting from out of town and really excited to try Meehan’s since we don’t have any authentic Irish pubs back home. The place was packed on 7/26/25 around 9 PM, which we took as a good sign. We walked up to the front door, held it open, and tried to step inside. Right at the entrance, a group of people was blocking the walkway near the hostess stand. She was actively talking to them, so we waited just a few seconds, assuming they were being helped. Instead, the hostess (who we didn’t catch the name of, but she was a younger girl with dark brunette hair) snapped her neck around at us and told us to close the door. No hello. No welcome. Just that. I asked if the people in front of her were waiting to be seated, and she rolled her eyes and completely ignored me. The people standing there looked at us, shook their heads no, and didn’t move an inch. What made it even worse is that I’m 26 weeks pregnant and had walked quite a distance just to get there. I was looking forward to sitting down, having a nice meal, and resting my feet. Instead, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing everyone just by trying to walk in the door. My husband and I left. It was very clear they didn’t want our business. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable in any establishment that claims to offer hospitality. A hostess is the first impression of a restaurant. When someone greets guests with attitude instead of courtesy, it sets the tone for the entire experience. We weren’t being rude, we weren’t rushing anyone, and yet we were treated like a burden. I’m appalled that this was our first impression of Meehan’s. If that’s how guests are treated for simply trying to walk in, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. A true Irish pub should feel warm, inviting, and friendly. This felt cold, dismissive, and downright unprofessional.

I went to Meehan’s tonight and had the clams and linguine WOW it was amazing! I highly recommend it I also had oysters that were amazing. I will definitely be back. 5 stars ⭐️

As an Englishman, the best fish and chips I’ve ever had from a restaurant by a mile. Also had the Jamesons bread pudding which was delicious. Pretty stellar experience, my wife and I were well pleased and capped off a lovely day. (No rating on the rooms we as we weren’t guests)

Cute little pub, perfect for less than overpriced drinks, simple fare, and great service! Will be back!

We had lunch and our server was Audrey. She was delightful. Very sweet and welcoming.

WOW! Delicious food all around! Started with the BEST chowder outside of Boston. Then served some perfect oysters. Both martinis were quite tasty as well. Highly recommended anytime you’re in the area!!

We had oysters at the bar with Tyrus serving. Tyrus was very professional courteous and personable. And the oysters that he prepared were outstanding! We will repeat the experience as soon as we can.

We had the best food! We spent a week in South Carolina and Florida exploring different places and this was the most incredible food we had down south!

This is our go to every time we visit St. Augustine. We fully intend to try every menu item. The portions are awesome and so is the selection. The staff, even when busy, make sure you feel at home. We travel when we can from Tampa and Meehans is the hi light dining experience. Brett was our server not just this time but 9 months ago as well and we were remembered. Fantastic food and experience.

Wow, Alec the server said it was an awesome reuban, well yall he lied, one of the best I have ever had. Actually he didn't lie cause he said that it was the best, it really is yall.

My girlfriend and I were here on a vacation and decided to eat here. We had amazing food and really enjoyed the live music. Tony our server was great and made sure we always had everything we needed. Would absolutely recommend!

Irish pub. Legit and fun. Some great locals who visit. Bartenders work hard and drinks are poured right. Thanks and I’ll be back.
