Previously the best seafood restaurant in downtown. Last week's visit was mind blowing! It was noticeable that the recipes for my favorite side dishes had changed from great to not good (spinach casserole, collard greens, mac & cheese). The most alarming was the datil sauce, not our favorite local Minorcan datil sauce. They gave us a small plastic container of sauce. Seems their supply had been delayed. Shrimp were small but good. The hush puppies were perfect 👌 Regretfully, we won't return.

Picked Schooner's Seafood House for our Anniversary this year. Great pick: food, service was great the seafood house decor was great and the other customers were friendly. You will not leave hungry. We had a really good time.Thank You Schooner's.

I have caught flounder, cleaned flounder & cooked flounder for decades. What was served to me was the nastiest piece of flounder hands down! Not only was it served with the skin(most restaurants do not serve it this way or should at least mention this) but a gooey black substance was in the fish & it was NOT the back muscle which I am aware flounder has. I was offered another choice & chose the mahi which also smelled & super fishy-not any mahi in my opinion as I am quite familiar with how mahi smells & the texture. Needless to say, I ate a few bites of my slaw & fries. Manager said my meal would be comped(both my friends heard this) but when check was presented I was told only a portion would be comped since I had eaten some slaw & a few fries. I so wish that I had taken a picture of what that flounder’s insides looked like! My friends live 5 minutes from Schooner's & eat there quite frequently-never again they said! What should have been a great get together turned all our stomachs. A manager who values her customers should have comped not just my meal but my friends also. The smell alone was overwhelming on the mahi. My advice-if it smells & has a black gooey appearance-that fish is spoiled-DO NOT EAT!

We stumbled (figuratively) across this restaurant on our way out of town and looking for a place. We noticed an older crowd and figured we found a good spot!
For those that like an outdoor bar and seating, they have a roomy, covered area.
The food was hot and good and service spot on. Price was comfortable as well.

We were with a party of 10. The food was great and the service was spectacular. The prices were very reasonable, considering what's going on in the world. I recommend this restaurant. I understand it gets really busy on weekends so get there early to avoid the wait.

Unfortunately we went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a local. When we found out the shrimp was not local we should have left. The NE clam chowder seemed to be made with milk, potatoes, celery and a couple of flecks of clams. Very watery. Clam strips were mostly breading. The green bean casserole was gloppy.and the hush puppies were large dough balls. Very disappointed. It was an unfortunate way to end a nice vacation.

First I would like to say that the service was great! Atmosphere as well. But it fell very short after that.. The food was not good. The seafood had no taste. The fried scallops were coated in so much flour that the fried skin of it just fell off leaving the plain scallop. Shrimp nor fish had no taste. They seem to over coat the food before frying or coat it while it was wet.

The shrimp is good

Extremely disappointing experience especially by the manager who has no customer service skills. The managers response to our feedback to the food we ordered was rude to such an extent that I do not recommend anyone visiting the restaurant, as she gives the impression that customers are a bother and not welcomed.

We ordered the stuffed shrimp dinners. The entrée was to be served with crab meat filing. When the food arrived it was the equivalent of fried shrimp with batter, virtually no stuffing. We did not touch the meal but called our server, Maddie, who was friendly and attentive and called her manager over to speak to us. We showed the manager the entrée and asked if she saw any staffing. She admitted that the stuffing was limited, - we said it is none existent, but she attacked us and rudely told us that this is how it came, and her attitude was this is it. I tried to explain to her that the menu specifically said that it was topped with crab meat stuffing, she basically said too bad, this is how it comes. We paid for the food and left.

Please do not order this entrée as it is not as advertised. And the manager was so rude that you do not want her to spoil an evening out. There are so many great restaurants in St Augustine, don' t go to a place where you will be disrespected and treated so poorly. Stay away try somewhere else. You can have a beautiful night out, just not here.

To the management, your restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was superb, your servers are wonderful, but your manager is absolutely horrific. Her attitude will ensure that new customers will stay away.
