Great service and atmosphere but the food was subpar. The French onion soup, at $14, I was expecting better.
The duck was alright but the sides were lacking.
Still, the experience here was nice.

The service and restaurant was intimate and nice, but the food was inedible for myself and barely edible for my wife. We both wanted the short rib dish but it wasn't available. So we had to go with second choices, which was unfortunate. The risotto with shrimp was $42 and was a tiny portion of rice soup that was super watery and bland. The shrimp seemed to be entirely unseasoned and simply boiled and tossed in the dish, and four tiny shrimp for $10 was insulting. The salmon was cooked super rare and wasn't great either. We ended up going around trying to find another restaurant to eat at. The wine was good.

Quickly became our favorite restaurant in St. Augustine! Food & service are amazing!

Enjoyed dinner at this restaurant in the historic area of St. Augustine. Sat in the small entrance courtyard which was very pleasant. There is more courtyard seating behind the restaurant but it was full. Had the Pan-Seared Sea Bass and it was delicious! Good service.

Always a great meal and wonderful staff. We started off at a restaurant we hadn’t tried before which became super disappointing so we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Drunken Horse saved our night. Never disappoints with quality and they are so kind that even if you are the only ones there on a Monday night, they don’t push you to close up early. It’s genuinely a hidden gem in St. Augustine and should not be overlooked!

The plates are small for the price point. The tuna tartare was amazing. The seabass was also delicious but felt the portion sizes were on the smaller side. The atmosphere and service were exceptional. Next time we will different items on the food menu and see if portion sizes are bigger. For reference for 2 people we spent $180

My lovely wife and I have been to the Drunken Horse numerous times for a pre dinner glass of wine or to enjoy their courtyard with a bottle of wine after meandering the streets of St Augustine. When we bring friends to St Aug, it is one of our “go to” places. Surprisingly, we have never eaten at the Drunken Horse and we have been talking about it for months. Last night, we finally had dinner there and we are so glad we did!

The Drunken Horse is a small establishment off of Charlotte street. Their sign does not actually have their name so it is quite easy to miss. It is an intimate setting thought they have courtyards in both the front and back. They specialize in French cuisine and do not take reservations. It was a rainy night so the courtyards were not an option and all of the tables were full when we arrived. There was room at the copper top bar and we were all too happy to grab seats there.

Our bartender was Bridget who was extremely versed in the menu and provided us with sage counsel. Note that they do not offer liquor but have a very unique wine collection.

We started off with a charcuterie board which was amongst the best we have had. We chose both a hard and soft cheese in addition to a French prosciutto. It came with a dijon mustard and a honey truffle butter which was incredible. We also were given what seemed to be a whole loaf of sliced French bread. Gosh, we were full before our entrees arrived.

Still, we carried on through our culinary journey. We went down a simple path. I had the Bourguignonne flatbread. It had short rib, Gruyère cheese with caramelized onions and carrots. Simply amazing! My wife chose the croque madam which is a fried ham sandwich with bechamel sauce, Gruyère cheese and a fried egg (Bridget adroitly insisted that my wife try it with the egg….she was on the money). Both of our entrees were outstanding!

The Drunken Horse is clearly amongst our favorite places in St Augustine. We can’t recommend it enough!

This cute little French restaurant had some amazing food. I'm especially like that the food was served nice and hot. I had the duck, the beet salad and the excellent Creme brulee ( really, don't skip this dessert). The sauces and dressing they make are flavorful and really enhances each dish. The service was even better. The server was attentive and took the time to answer all of my questions and he gave me some great recommendations. I definitely enjoyed my birthday dinner. Thank you!
