The Florida Cracker Cafe

Wanted to try this place because I’ve heard great things about their food. Boy was I disappointed!! I ordered the peel and eat shrimp as an appetizer. The shrimp were so over cooked you couldn’t even peel them. The cocktail sauce was so old it was crusty.
We then ordered the shrimp and grits. That was a mistake!! Food came out looking like I ordered shrimp with a side of grits. The food was not good!!! I will not come back to this place to eat.

Dora was or server and she was great! The Shrimp and Grits will make you wanna slap your Momma for feeding you garbage all your life! Highly recommend this place for a good lunch

Went here for a lunch with my friends. The place was very nice. The waiter was friendly, and even better the fact that he knew some sign language, which was great for me.
The food was okay. I ordered a burger, but it wasn't cooked thoroughly. At least the fries were great.

I really like visiting this unique restaurant which has been in the location for a while. They make a really special, unique, and rare gator tail which comes as an appetizer. The dish comes with a special house-made orange marmalade which surprisingly complements the nice snack really well. The gator tail is nicely battered and medium chewy. The whole experience is wonderful. I wish to visit again, capture a photo, and look into their other food options.

Great food, friendly service, and perfect downtown location!
We had such a great experience at the downtown The Florida Cracker Cafe. It’s a cozy, family-friendly spot tucked in a perfect location near St. George Street. We honestly loved everything we ordered — flavorful, fresh, and satisfying.

Our waitress was fantastic — so sweet, attentive, and helpful throughout the entire meal. The whole atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, and the food really delivered. Definitely recommend if you’re exploring the area and want a casual spot with great eats and great service!

The food was absolutely amazing. Ordered gator tail & cornbread for an appetizer and the fried crab cake sandwich & shrimp po boy for lunch. We were sat right away and our server Taylor was very nice and attentive.

Haven't been to the Cracker in several years. Me and my wife did an early lunch trip down to St Augustine and visited the the Florida Cracker for lunch. Still pretty good as we remember it from years ago, but the city of St Augustine needs a reality check for locals coming down for lunch.

I love supporting locally family owned restaurants here in this community and Florida Cracker is one of my favorites to send visitors to as well. You can always expect some great seafood in a casual welcoming atmosphere.

You can’t go wrong with the gator tail tender and cooked to perfection every single time I order it. The other is the Datil stung shrimp & grits. This has become a favorite to recreate at home now too.

We come to St Augustine several times a year with our dogs. This is always our #1 restaurant and eat there a few times each trip. Staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. Would give it a 10 our of 10!

We went on a Friday evening, and Tori was our waitress. She was amazing! My husband had the blackened trigger fish sandwich and I had the fish and chips. The fish from the fish and chips was great. Fried perfectly. Most places you'll get fish soggy at the bottom, but somehow they nailed it. Throughout the whole meal, not only was the food hot, but the fish was crispy! We will definitely be back!
