Yamato Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar

First and last time. Waited an hour for chef after being sat. Food was subpar at best, we had three different servers, told hostess and three servers we had birthday. Nothing, no singing. After reading other reviews, this seems to be the norm for food taste and service, will not return.

I had a horrible experience. The cook catered to others at the table when it was my daughter’s birthday and we got no acknowledgment. He totally ignored us the whole time and catered to the other party. The cook who was possibly gay catered to the gay boy and his family. The food was horrible The cook was so weirdly distracted to he couldn’t even cook our food properly.

If you want to be ignored and neglected go to Yamatos. Arrived and asked the hostess if we could sit in the bar area. She seated us and then we proceeded to wait for 15 minutes while nobody greeted us. Two different waitresses walked by us several times. We finally decided to leave after zero acknowledgment. On the way out, THREE hostesses/waitress? Were sitting across from the hostess stand playing on their phones.
Unreal. My spouse and I have worked in the restaurant industry for several years and this is just unacceptable for a business charging 20+ per plate.

Very Dissatisfied. Walked In To 3 Girls Playing On Their Phones. As Soon As We Walked In They Jumped Up Acting Like We Didn't See Them. We Sat In The Bar Area For 15 Mins And Nobody Ever Even Acknowledged Us. We Proceeded To Leave When We Reached The Front Door The Girls Where Back Seated Down And Playing On Their Phones Again. I Think More Help For The Waitress And Waiter Staff Would Be More Efficient For A Smoother Experience. Shame On The Hostesses For Thinking Playing On Their Phones On Company Time Is What This Restaurant Really Needs To Keep Customers Coming Back.

I called in a to go order for pick up on mother's day,They answered and hung up three times,before someone took my order.I picked up my order and signed receipt and took my copy and left.They charged me for the order.The next night at 2:30 a.m. they decided to take it apond themself to add a $16 tip without my consent!!!!; Big NO NO!!!!!!!! I do think that is STEALING!!!!!!!!

This was my first time going to Yamato & the food was flavorless & bland, the chicken, rice, veggies & shrimp, all lacked seasoning. I had the fried rice with chicken & shrimp and it was a hair on 1 of my shrimp, I didn’t get a picture of that. Also someone at my table spilled their soda on the grill & it went all over the veggies & the cook just scrap the soda off the grill & continued to cook. That wasn’t sanitary at all. I won’t be returning back to this location again.

Found this place on a Pet Smart pickup (for our dogs) last minute a day before heading back home to Wisconsin, the food was OUTSTANDING.
Probably one of the best Japanese Steakhouse I've ever been to.

Overall a very ok experience
The food was lacking flavor and somehow dry. The chef tried his best but it just wasn’t good. We barely ate anything and never complained but won’t be returning. Additionally they do add a gratuity even with our party of 3. I would try somewhere else before coming here.
