Steinhatchee Scoops was a letdown. Instead of a proper menu or a view of the ice cream, they had a marker board with strange, made-up flavor names, and you couldn't even see the ice cream since it was kept "in the back." It felt like a guessing game, which took away from the experience.
The young lady behind the counter seemed disinterested and barely offered any assistance. When I inquired about cones (which were pictured on the wall), she casually mentioned they only had $12 waffle cones—pretty steep for a simple ice cream shop. I just wanted two small, one-scoop servings, and even that came out to $12, which was way overpriced for what we got.
As for the ice cream itself? It was okay, nothing special, but certainly not good enough to justify those prices. The whole experience felt underwhelming, and for the cost, I expected more in terms of both product and service. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Sorry for doing this to a local business but the attitude and operation is a mess. You go in and there’s a big beautiful board of flavors they have to offer, but as soon as you pick from it, they guy just says “you have a better chance of getting what you want if you pick from {this} list” and then gestures to one on the counter with literally NONE of the flavors on the official menu. It’s so soft it melts practically immediately. And what self respecting ice cream company has neither cake batter nor cookie dough? Vanilla it is! 2nd time with this exact experience it’s really surprising they have the stars they do but it’s likely because it’s the only ice cream shop in town.
Best ice cream ever. Owner is awesome too!

A lot good cream in a waffle cone
The vanilla ice cream was “world class“ and the beans are from Madagascar as said by the gentleman at the front serving our ice cream. It was the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted, thick and creamy. We came for the scallops stayed for the ice cream.
Steinhatchee Scoops used to be our must-visit location in town each year. Sadly, the quality has disappeared and the price has gone way up. We were charged $10/cone and were refused a sample. Serving was sloppy and the secret ingredient (mayo) was removed. Yeah, that was their secret. When you walked in there used to be tubs of mayo, maybe it’s just hidden now but we asked about it two years ago. Part of the experience was the mayo jokes. Funny stuff. But overall we will likely not visit again.
This ice cream company is incredibly expensive and they double charged our card despite saying the incorrect charge was canceled. We won’t be back.
Great ice cream.
