We came from New York to Miami and were advised to go to a Russian restaurant, we chose Old Samovar according to reviews and were terrified. In a restaurant, prices for dishes are two or even 3 times more expensive and not delicious food. We ordered kebabs and tuna tartars, waited more than an hour for the order and brought us tartar with bread and the fish was not fresh, kebabs 3-4 pieces for $22 and we paid for three dishes $100, frozen fries are sold in markets and smell like butter. There are drunk people sitting at the tables who almost put their feet on the table and undress their women there. We've been to different restaurants and we know what kind of service there should be, who was in New York and tried Russian food knows what I'm writing about, it's not even about the price, and the quality doesn't match that. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant, much less ever going back there.
Apparently, the place was renamed and now owned by new owner.I don't know how it used to be so I can't compare to how was it, but I can compare to how it can be.Despite to a confusion and even a conflict with the host/waitress at the entrance:The borscht was ok, not great.Pelmeni were undercooked, I think they lacked 1.5-2 minutes in boiling water. The Sauerkraut was bad, along with the marinated pickles, tomatoes and other items there were served on one plate. Also, One of the dining plates was shattered at the edge. From a Russian, such food can taste way better, and in its current state, can't recommend it.
The service is out of hands, the food is mediocre. The kitchen is small and dirty. They only have one toilet for both male and female, it’s small and filthy, just like their kitchen. If you prefer to be ignored at all times at your table to the point where you have to beg for water, if you are ok with half of the menu items to be out of stock, if you love tiny plate of regular fried potatoes (was not cooked through) for a whooping $20 - that’s your place.
Nice place, good food, good service....but where did you find a singer without music hearing. Two stars for f...g terrible singer. Please, guys you have find someone who knows how to sing
I regularly arrive buying some food in here. I enjoy the rapid service and well prepared food. They never disappoint.
This is not old samovar. Now here is a new restaurant. It calls ATMOSFERA. Very nice place
The food was okay. Not sure why Kompot ( Russian berry drink ) is listed $12 on the menu , which is ridiculous, but they charged $5.Also they were really pushing on getting a salad, which I think was funny , cuz one of the negative reviews was exactly about them pushing you to get a salad.Apparently it’s also supposed to be 18% service fee, but their system didn’t work and they asked us to make sure to leave 18% , which is pitiful and kind of funny since we pretty much always leave 20%..
You know there's a problem when the young waitress does not wear a mask. When we asked her to put one on, as she was up in our faces at the table, she said she didn't ' to.We asked for the manager, who also had a rotten attitude, and she said no one was required to wear one. We nevertheless less ordered 2 entrees, one of which came first and cold, a beef stroganoff with mashed potatoes, not noodle, and no beef. The second entree came a full half hour later, very tough and tasteless lamb kebobs. When asked for the check, after waiting forever for waitress, there was an 18% service charge on the bill. We asked for it to be taken off and they said they couldn't. After almost calling the police the matter was resolved when the other person in our party spoke her native Russian to the management and told them off. Apparently the only thing they understood. Don't go.
Delicious food, live music, good service and nice atmosphere. Our kebabs were soft and juicy with grilled veggies on the side, borscht hot and very traditional, crepes for desert with dolce de Leche absolutely stunning. I recommend this place, 5 star!
What a great place! I came here once to try Russian food for the first time and I was impressed, and wanted to try it again. A few weeks later, my family was in town and we thought of Old Samovar since the restaurant is pretty big, and we could accommodate everyone well. They really made our evening the best possible. I’m not exaggerating, they really took care of us like family and we really enjoyed our time there. From the food, to the music, and service, everything was excellent. To everyone at Old Samovar, I truly thank you for your outstanding dedication, my family could not stop talking about “the Russian restaurant” for weeks! We’ll be back.

Went there to celebrate our son’s birthday and honestly were very dissatisfied with the experience. The music was extremely loud with no breaks and in 2 hours we couldn’t exchange a word even with people next to us. The server couldn’t hear us either and considering no one was wearing a mask we had to come into very close contact with all the staff members, which was pretty uncomfortable. So the server was so busy she didn’t ask us if we wanted drinks, so we only had a chance to order drinks (Sprite - that’s all they had) before we were leaving. The orders were coming one by one, so when some of us finished our meals others still haven’t received their food. Well, some of us haven’t received the food even after 2 hours of waiting - we guess the server just didn’t catch the order, as it was impossible to catch anything in that noise. So some of us left hungry. Many items on menu were not present. But what killed us the most after all this experience, they overcharged us and it didn’t look like mistake, as they overcharged us at multiple positions for a total of around $50-60. Isn’t it crazy? All we got in return was apologies.
We were there last week to try the Russian cuisine, and our experience was really good. The Lamb kebab was fantastic???. The customer service is awesome, the waitress goes extra mile to please us. The only thing is that the music was really loud, that's why we left early. It was like a night club, we couldn't talk to each other
Had a great experience in here with my wife. The food comes rapidly and the customer service is just great. Prices are reasonable.
Most of the food was good but portions were small and it was all overpriced. Dishes were dirty- my glass had lipstick marks on it and when the waitress brought extra plates there was black mold on one (she tried to hide it by putting it to the bottom and still gave us the other plates).Music was so loud that you couldn’t hear the person sitting next to you. I had to literally yell to talk to the person sitting at my own table and they could still barley hear me. Multiple people complained their ears were hurting but this was completely ignored by the staff. The waitresses barely checked on our table and when they did they kept asking if they could take our menus away for another table rather than taking our order. Not a single staff member was wearing a mask.
